Damn, what started out as a ripper tournament really fizzled out at the end. Portugal, FFS.

Colloquial expression. I have never been asked that before.

Tragically poor final, wasn't it? I didn't understand what the French were doing at all: Ronaldo off, Portugal barely capable of mounting an attack and France didn't really go after them in any sustained way in the 90 minutes. I think they really lacked an imperious defensive-mid of the Desailly variety (yes, I know - which team doesn't lack a Marcel Desailly?) who could press forward and force the rest of the team to play more directly.

It's ridiculous that the French with all their skill couldn't win that game. It's fair to say that after watching an entire tournament of them, I'd still struggle to pick out most of the Portugal team if they were in a police line-up. Yet, they won. So all credit to them. At least they won without penalties. I suppose.

Very anti-climatic finish to what was an exciting start of the competition.

Congratulations to Portugal, but I don't think they were anywhere near the best team of the competition.
