Relatives of missing NSW woman Allecha Boyd have joined the search for the chef who vanished in the Riverina last month.

Homicide detectives have been called in to assist the investigation into the disappearance of the 27-year-old, who is a cousin of AFL player Will Hoskin-Elliott, currently at Collingwood and formerly with Greater Western Sydney Giants.

Ms Boyd was last seen shopping at a supermarket in central Wagga Wagga on August 10. Her disappearance is described as being out of character

Her bank accounts, phone and social media accounts have not been used since.

She was reported missing on August 22, and police say they hold grave fears for her welfare.

Ms Boyd had lived in South Australia and Victoria before settling in Wagga Wagga in the Riverina two years ago. She had recently started working as a chef in a local pub. Most of Ms Boyd's extended family are based in Victoria.

Last week, detectives seized a green and silver Subaru Outback they believe Ms Boyd may have been travelling in on the day of her disappearance.

Police believe the car was used to travel from Wagga 40 kilometres north to the town of Coolamon on August 10, the day Ms Boyd disappeared.

Inspector Darren Cloake from Wagga Police said it was through a public appeal that new information regarding the missing woman was identified.

"Police enquiries to date have identified the vehicle and are not in a position to give the registration of that vehicle," he said.

"We are unable to say who was driving (the vehicle) however that person is known to us."

Detective Inspector Cloake and Ms Boyd's family will make a further public appeal for information about her disappearance on Thursday afternoon.

Distressed friends and family members have made a number of calls on social media for anyone with information to come forward.

"My good friend's sister has been missing for 40 days," Rian Manaz Kavanagh wrote on Facebook.

"She didn't take her phone or any extra clothes and her bank account hasn't been accessed.

"As someone who's family is still being affected by the disappearance of a loved one I know how terrible the uncertainty of not knowing someone's fate can be. If you have any information please don't hesitate to come forward."

Ms Boyd's aunt, Cheryl Hoskin, the mother of Will Hoskin-Elliott, has made numerous pleas for public assistance over the past month.

State Emergency Service members and police have searched bushland in the Lester State Forest, west of Coolamon, as part of their investigation.

Anyone with information about Ms Boyd's whereabouts can call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
