Maxwell has lots of admirable traits you want installed in a playing group but given his role isn't specific to our men's football side I'm not sure how much of a difference maker it'll be.

It kind of feels like we've created a position for him that perhaps is excess to our immediate requirements and it's as much a good PR decision as one that will help turn around our on field fortunes.

It's the cherry on top if you like when we still haven't finished baking the cake.

Don't get me wrong I'm not against it as such but it all depends how much substance the role with have and what positive influence it can provide for the coaches and players.

Regardless of his actual role, it's important to have good quality people around the club, whose very presence will have a positive impact on the general atmosphere and vibe around the place. I can see him being groomed to become our CEO in about 5 yrs.

So now we have a succession plan for the CEO's role, even though we don't know who the new CEO is that he may subsequently succeed ( if one has replaced Pert I may have missed that). How will the new role develop his skills to a sufficient extent to become a CEO? Or will he be CEO because of what he did as a player ? We are suffering because we appointed an inadequately skilled coach. We don't want to do the same thing with the bloke that controls the club.

Great to have a former champion back at the club. Welcome back Maxy. He should move up the Collingwood corporate ladder quick enough as the business admin side of things has been something he's declared interest in in the past.

Leadership and culture across the whole forms of competition at Pies for Nick

The job description not at all like Gubby that's for sure but Gubby had the
same territory--AFL--AWFL--Netball that Nick has

Welcome back,
Your dreams were your ticket out.

Welcome back,
To that same old place that you laughed about.

Well the names have all changed since you hung around,
But those dreams have remained and they're turned around.

Who'd have thought they'd lead ya (Who'd have thought they'd lead ya)
Back here where we need ya (Back here where we need ya)

Yeah we tease him a lot cause we've got him on the spot, welcome back,
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.

Looks like Luke Ball is doing the equivalent of Maxwell's job at Essendon.

Luke Ball at Essendon! Good luck to him, but couldn't he have found a better club than that cess pit?

I'm guessing I'm not alone in hating it when our favourite sons join other clubs.
When I first heard that Rowdy was going to Carlton I vomitted in my mouth.

Although it is fun when we send them our broken down stars for a superannuation boost. I'm thinking Peter McKenna, Mick McGuane & Dale Thomas.

They paid Mighty Mick $70k a game! Wonder what Daisy comes to per game...

Luke is more St Kilda than Collingwood so good luck to him at Essendon. Maxy is back where he belongs which is good for Maxy and good for us.

It does make one wonder whether the AFL is too fashion-driven. One club has one role, and suddenly multiple clubs want to do the same thing.

I can only hope that Maxwell's role really makes a significant difference, because it does come at an opportunity cost: he could have been getting more experience at some successful outside institution.

Paul Licuria also returns (sort of) to the club.

Not sure that this was the welcome back that Maxy wanted...

"Welcome back, Maxy. Oh, by the way, let me introduce you to Jordan."
