It’s likely also about context – if I get my arse squeezed by a random at a bar tomorrow night, I probably would be surprised but not really be upset about it. But if it happened to me on a semi-regular basis, at bars, on public transport, and so on, and I was also being flashed, cat-called and followed down the street from time to time, it might well become more than a minor annoyance and become something more threatening and humiliating.

Of course, rape is a much more extreme act than that, and likely to be much more inherently frightening and traumatising than a grope on a train. But I think, again, context can play a huge role in how such things are experienced and what impact it will have on one’s life.

If your arse got squeezed by a random in a bar, and one of their fingers even slightly penetrates your anus, you may have just been raped.

Yeah, I think it’s fairly well established that any form of non-consensual penetration is classed as rape. I can see the arguments either way on why that should/shouldn’t be the case – either way, it’s certainly a sexual assault.

Speaking of the groping, reminds me of when I was in year 10 or 11 and the school interviewed all the girls because a group of boys were doing just that, groping for the fun of it. It started with arses, then boobs then crutch. There was a strong rumour a girl was raped in the corridor which led to the investigation. (That girl has had sever problems ever since high school, and sh was fine until that year). Not sure how many girls named the perps but I did. At least 4 were expelled. Where it starts to where it ends. I remember being extremely embarrassed and upset by it. What so hard about keeping your hands to yourself? A wolf whistle doesn’t bothe4 me, he’ll these days I’d be wrapped, but keep your hands off.
