It's a pity the Police Association isn't calling for the Jail in this case. Their response to this is "silence".

The new law is discriminatory and inappropriate. The role of the laws in relation to criminal violence against the person is to ensure that persons of substance are protected from violent outbursts by people without substance. Transportation worked well.

Se we set up a penal colony in England and transport them to London?

That's a bit inhumane.

It’s very cold and there’s only soccer to watch in winter - but they’d learn their lesson quickly watching nil-all draws between West Ham and Chelsea, I reckon.

Why didn't the very poor excuse for a policeman who did this get 25 years - if he hadn't been caught, by accident - after the evidence was thought to be destroyed, the lad he punched would probably have had - as the Judge said -serious criminal convictions for the "fit up" charges?

Inexcusably low. Just the act of Filth.

If only there were smart phones 29 years ago when I had the suitcase belted out of me by a couple of cops.

BTW im not trying to justify anything, its not justifiable ever, of course cops should always be above the behaviour of everyone else, im just wondering if they were dirty little shitbags, or if it was cops picking on two innocent teens.

"The jury also found Mareangareu guilty of attempting to pervert the course of justice, for his conduct in preparing a brief of evidence against Mr Foster and friend Stuart Laird, then 17, over the following months over allegations they assaulted police, resisted arrest and possessed marijuana."

"Judge Morrish said had it not been for David Laird's resourcefulness, the boys would most likely now have serious criminal convictions."

Watch the video on the link. The cop went OTT for mine with no justification. If you can't deal with a teenager being just a little bit smart you shouldn't be a cop.

He's been convicted of perverting the course of justice. This doesn't happen because there were two sides to the story.

if they were a car they would have been in real trouble! they were 16 and 17!!

i cant find anything apart from them walking down the street early hours of christmas morning. which isnt a crime unless your worried about the naughty list.

I thought I recognized this cop on train couple of weeks ago (Lilydale line). He was with a couple of cop friends, one of them called him 'Sime'. a quick google and yep it was him 'Simon Marncrook' or whatever.
He must live in the area. likely returning from a day in court.
I should have said something to him, but who knows what these guys could do
