Considering we gave very little away, I'm happy. The club was smart to trade for him rather than sign him as a free agent.

We done well getting Plenty out of Dunn when people said he was done

^ Excellent point. I also underestimated Dunn, but he's been a very good get for us.

What do they mean by "cooked"? Does he have an injury history?

Can play forward, back and ruck.

May have suffered from expectations at the Dogs and never knew what his role was. If we can settle him into a role, will be very handy

I don't believe that TBH. The Bulldogs seems like a pretty unhappy place to be since 2017. At first it was all blamed on one or two bad apples but now that so many players are blowing dodge, you'd have to think there's an issue with the coach or club now that Stringer is no longer the scapegoat.

Say what you will about Buckley's tenure at Collingwood prior to 2018. At least we never had an exodus. That was one positive I took out of our poor form, that the players wanted to stay. Roughead will work out. Wait 'n' see.

Maybe they mixed up the photos. Wouldn't be the first time.

I look forward to the depth and options that Roughead (J) will bring,
perhaps in the mold of Leigh Brown?

Looking at his career stats, he did a lot of rucking for Footscray in their premiership year (382 hitouts) but he has never been a high possession player (career average 11 disposals per game and his best is 20). So, he gets a bit more of the ball than Moore (9.5 disposals per game) but not by much. He has never kicked more than 8 goals in a season and averages 0.25 goals per game. To put his goal kicking in perspective, he starts the 2019 year behind Stevo on the career-goals ladder.

He was good enough to play 25 games in 2016 because he is big, mobile and can ruck a bit. I think hes probably been brought in as a kind of big utility player who can play a number of roles. Even if he doesnt cement a starting place in the team every week, he will give us the option of a cut-out or rest for The Greatest Ruckman of All-Time and probably also keep Mason out of the firing line in the ruck. He can also compete in the air at either end of the ground, so he could help the defence against the sides with quality big players and he may present more of a problem for the intercept defenders than our present structure. At the least, he has sufficient experience and attributes to enable us to rest or reduce the load of important players through a grinding season, even if he doesnt become a starting 22 player.

I am pleased with this recruitment. It makes our options and general flexibility more appealing. Hopefully, he plays his career-best footy for us but, even if he doesnt, he looks like a solid addition to our list.

Just caught the second half of the 2016 GF on fox.

Kinda hard to watch tbh, knowing we come so close 2 years later.

But Roughead was very good from what I saw. Geez, lots of those Dogs players are at different clubs now.

Oh great 2002 GF is on next. Might have to change the channel.

Pretty sure that if everything goes perfectly, Roughhead wont play much for us. Having said that, nothing went right for us the past 5 years, and it would be good to have a Roughhead waiting in the wings to step up if injuries (as they inevitably do) test our depth. I think of him as an upgrade on McLarty (in the sense that he is actually an AFL calibre player).

Love the alliteration and puns DTM and the point you make.

Yes, not a good fit (historically).

Although I think we kicked straighter this year.
