WHAT?! And leave the comfortable hermit-like existence of my loungeroom?!

Bahahahaha indeed! Laughing

Gold Coast is a ****ing debacle. They had the same issue when the Bears were there. My old man had a chat with Robert Walls and said they needed to get the **** out of Gold Coast and play at the Gabba.
They did that, and had success (thanks to the Fitzroy merge, but moving to Brisbane had a big effect too).

The AFL has come a long way from the coach of the then Bears being offered free tickets to the game at McDonalds on his way to the Cararra venue; The AFL has improved it's branding and marketing since then across all forms of media.

So what does the AFL do in its infinite wisdom? Make the same ****ing mistake trying to establish a team at the Gold Coast. The population there is not stable, a lot of tradies staying for work and leaving, people on holidays, and permanent locals don't give a rats about footy.
It's a shit of a place to drive around, it's isolated, and frankly, one team in Brisbane was enough. It totally ****ed the Lions up.

The Gold Coast is now the sixth most populated city in the country, from what I hear... And the population increase has rooted the traffic flow, but that's happening in most capital cities?

Meanwhile, in Tassie, footy is struggling now, when a team 5-10 years ago would have revitalised the state league.

Yes, nobody argues that point; it's been a contentious issue for 20 years.

We have ****ing narcissistic numpties in charge of the AFL, easily swayed by other narcissistic numpties looking to line their own pockets.
It's a complete and utter **** up, and the AFL should admit Gold Coast was a **** up, fold the team or move it, and cut its losses and move on.

Well the GCS are effectively starting from scratch again now, and will be lucky to win a game in 2019, or get 5-10K attending per game.
Yet the local grass root juniors are starting to take significant numbers away from rugby clubs, which is the objective. Many are the children of ex-pat Victorians obviously. But it will take a solid 5-10 years to reap fruit.
AFL are also tied to Metricon financially until about 2030.

And don't get me started on GC (the area) being a drug den full of ICE and coke. Poor old Rocket didn't know what he was walking into when he went there, now Dew's trying to clean the place up. They pissed off Bennell, but there's still a huge problem...

All capital cities are drug dens full of ICE and coke, GC is no different. Eade got shafted no doubt; 3 season was never enough time to fix the trail of shit left behind by McKenna and the other emus who stuck their head in the sand while being told exactly what was transpiring behind closed doors.
Plus, they would have sacked Eade at the end of 2018 regardless; they did him a favour releasing him early, and he'd now know that in hindsight.

Even playing field? Never gonna happen. Collingwood should look after its own and **** the AFL.

Now on that point, we ALL agree! Go Pies! Razz
