The other point my posts highlights is that with four goals of our first 6 starting from our defensive 50, Langdons early intercept marks were one of the main reasons for us being ahead at quarter time. We pressured them really hard when the ball was in dispute and Langdon reaped the reward and set us up coming back again. Once they got the uncontested marking game going, we lost our ability force it back off them.
Obviously I don’t need to sell him to you but any criticism levelled at Langdon in the GF is clearly well off the mark. |

It also serves to underline the point that the definition of hitouts to advantage should be changed. |
The definition is "A hit-out that reaches an intended teammate". I suppose it's intended to give credit to a ruckman who can hit the ball to his teammate, even if the teammate is a talentless leper (or, worse still, a Carlton player) who can do nothing with it. |

| ^ The suggestion is that this is LoGiudice's way of putting a "spy" among the coaching staff. You wonder if a club would do something like this if the senior coach had the playing pedigree that the AFL community seems to think is so necessary. Old-fashioned thinking? |

Has sucsess created Buckley as a far better coach —OR —has Buckley created sucsess to become a far better coach

A newish book quoted Denis Pagan, saying something like:
"I saw Nathan Buckley's kick-in play book. It had 25 different plays. Terrific stuff, but so bloody complicated."
So many questions. e.g.
How did Pagan get hold of NB's play book?
Do you think we've seen 25 different (successful) kick-in plays in NB's time as senior coach?
Are players mentally incapable of coping with that sort of thing? |

3. He sometimes sounds like an old fan in the outer, not a former coach.
2. It's a bit alarming if this is a problem for AFL players, because set plays should be the easy part of the game, not the hard part. (Easy, because you just need to learn it diligently, and then you don't need to think any more.)
