Big points that you touched on are:
Failure to convert so called ruck dominance into clearance dominance - this a catastrophic coaching failure
Unbalanced list management - lack of quality coming through exacerbated by injuries to young players and (my take) failure to recruit sufficient quality talls
The issue is what next? I am worried about next year. _________________ Daicos, impossible angle ... Goal! |

We're going to cover list management in an upcoming episode, but I'm worried given the talent profile of both the Brisbane and the Carlton lists.
Years ago when Carlton were finishing bottom, they got the likes of Marc Murphy, Bryce Gibbs, and Matthew Kreuzer. They were all very good players, but that was it.
Now I look at them and they have Patrick Cripps, Sam Walsh, and Charlie Curnow, amongst others. Cripps is already a freak. The other two have the potential to join him. Then they have an array of others (e.g. Dow, McKay, etc.) who look good.
Brisbane's list is only going to get better.
Our current list reminds me too much of the 2002-03 lists. We've got some cream at the top, and then a lot of hard-workers. I don't know if they're going to compete. In two big games (last year's GF, and this year's PF) when the game was there to be won, nobody seized it (although de Goey, Cox, and Adams tried last year in the GF).
Next year, Buckley needs to get progressive and lateral. I would push Maynard into the midfield. He's a strong body who has mongrel and is a raking kick. De Goey also has to play primarily midfield, so it's imperative they get him fit. I would start rotating Stephenson off the wing.
Form permitting, I would have both Sier and Wills in the midfield. Every rotation would have one of Sier, Wills, Adams, or de Goey in there as a bull.
I would rather play Moore at FF, and find somebody else to hold down the FB post. Sidebottom should play as a permanent forward.
And they need to address their injury issues, as it's imperative that hopefuls such as Quaynor, Tyler Brown, and Murphy, push through. |

The bottom line is we need to trade some players for early round draft picks need to start to pick up raw young talent again. I feel the pies are at cross roads and need to know if they stay with the same stagnating list or go out and get some fresh young players. ill be doing the latter.
Off field improve the whole football dept is been a stink for a years now and needs a revamp.
Finally start becoming accountable and more ruthless for a change. |

Unless they're trading out a Grundy, de Goey, Moore, or Stephenson, I don't think they have anybody with much market value. |

No, nothing planned. Everybody is deflated by the way things have turned out. |

So you're saying the whole culture (club and supporters) is stuffing up the club. |

I thought the word "cakewalk" was to blame for that, I must have been mistaken. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

"None of this matters anything unless it results in premierships... Culture is a representation of a number of things...
But one thing we fall short at, and we've been doing it for 9000 years now, is we just can't grab that ultimate prize."
"Do you think we focus or promote those things too much, those other things?"
"Oh, definitely. I think we hide behind it... It's a shield." |

I would like to see Mr Sly wearing his sunglasses again- he looks like the menacing people I remember well that used to watch the game at the Yarra Falls End when he wears the sunglasses. _________________ Firm in the belief that number 17 flag is only months away... |
