Well, the way the mongrels tanked and have rorted the draft, has delivered them more No 1s than the Beatles had. What team would not be kicking arse with the number of !st picks they have had,and with Judd and Stevens too.BUT,if they lose either Fev or Judd thru long term injury, they are in big trouble.look how injuries have stuffed our season lately,no rocca, reid, rusling, presti.Bluescum have had a good run with injuries.

You realise they would be on six wins if we had done what we were suppose to.

Can't believe a Collingwood supporter would even admit to Carlton winning a flag before our proud club.

Even if you did think it, how could bring yourself to admit it? Very shameful.

I've had a go at you a couple of times, PraiseMillane, but I totally agree with you on this one.

In regards to Swann. I worked for the company that reviewed the club and he was out the door anyways MG. He beat them to the punch.

Because its true. In my lifetime I have seen 8 Carlton premierships and only one from Collingwood.

We have won one flag in 50 years, they have won 8.

It isn't shameful. It is just being a realist. They were clever and got Judd. We were dumb and didn't even try as admitted by Gary Pert.

You reap what you sow. They have always been smarter than us administratively. They pinched our CEO from under our nose. We didn't even have a clause in Swann's contract that meant he could start with another club for 6 months if he left Collingwood, which is standard stuff for top executives.

Carlton smart, Collingwood dumb.

I have seen it over and over for many years and nothing it appears has changed very much.

Carlton are an exciting team to watch at the moment. We vary from OK to boring to terrible and we appear rudderless when things go against us on field.

Add to this that the Collingwood admin and execs appear to be returning to the Kevin Rose presidency days and when you roll all this into one big ball it suggests to me I will see a Carlton flag again before I ever see another Collingwood one.

This administration is in its tenth year t the helm and have not delivered anything. It may be time to thank them for their time and effort and move on to someone who may be more able to deliver.

Magpie Greg, coming from you I take this comment very seriously and respectfully too. Your love for the history of our club is undeniable (people need only to read some of your great pieces published on Nick's from time to time). I thought Praisemillane was bagging the club out a few weeks back himself, and now he's the defender of the Mighty Pies. Wink I know that you are not having a go at the wonderful club we love, but just telling a few sad home-truths.

What is really "shameful" Magpie Greg is that Collingwood has not honoured the incredible legacy bequeathed it by Jock McHale and those great sides from the first half of the Twentieth century. By 1953 we had won 11 premierships (far ahead of any other team). Something seemed to go fundamentally wrong from the 1950s onwards, because Melbourne started dominating, and then other teams followed. We lost the mystique and aura that surrounded the very name of Collingwood. We lost our tough edge, we became soft and inward looking. We rested on our laurels. The result? We pinched a flag in 1958 (to save our record of four flags in a row) and again in 1990 by playing above ourselves.

Oh we've made quite a few grand finals since then, but the result has become all too predictable (and it has nothing to do with the Colliwobbles). I don't have any answers Magpie Greg, and it is distressing, but these facts are indisputable:

Premierships from 1958 (a nice round 50 years)

Hawthorn - 9
Carlton - 8
Essendon - 6
Richmond - 5
North Melbourne - 4
Melbourne - 3
West Coast - 3
Brisbane - 3
Adelaide - 2
Collingwood - 2
Geelong - 2
Port Adelaide - 1
St Kilda - 1
Sydney - 1
Footscray - 0
Fremantle - 0

Those stats are there in "black & white" for all to see. It's not bullshit, what Magpie Greg has stated in his thread is all true.

Some supporters are either too one-eyed or refuse to believe/listen to some home truths told by some of the older supporters.

I have seen 5 Carlton flags in my time, I remember 1979 like it was yesterday & I'm STILL hurting from that out of bounds bullshit tap from Harmes!

Looks like by the end of this year we may fall further down that premiership ladder if Geelong go back to back.

no. of flags since the expanded competition which to me has a greater relevance than when it was a 12 team competition. i haven't put together the number of finals series each club has played since expansion.
