^ And probably not the non-goal-kicking type either.

So Varcoe ruled out then.

I think many Nicksters undervalue the worth of Appleby. He may not be as exciting to watch as Murray, but I think he is a tighter and more defensive player. If Greenwood drops his form, then Appleby is ready to replace him.[/quote]

Maybe when his body of work moves beyond 30 games we can make a informed view on his worth. At this stage, looks capable but post 6 games, far too early to make a judgement call either way.

Murray reminds me of a pinball in a pinball machine: the coach has used the flippers to get him started, gets through the opening then he bounces off tacklers and one is not sure whe he lands next. Just when you think he’s about to be tackled and game over he’s moved from the tackle in a manic like state flipped forward after receiving a handball. Round and round he goes, where he stops nobody knows. Thrilling at times, but needs a bit more polish (why bring the poles into it?) and some more defensive aspects. Glad we’ve got him.

As for a forward option: this would need to be trialled in the two’s.

Varcoe as otgers have noted is next cab off the rank. When he tackles the opposing player stays tackled.

Remember Buckley made a point of saying that Appleby was extremely unlucky to lose his spot to Greenwood. I suspect by year's end, if not sooner, he'll be back in our team.
