Just reported. DeGoey had his leg amputated. Still listed as 2 weeks. |

Apologies one and all. My 87 yr old mum told me that the news was reporting an injury to Pendles. Seems that it was simply a report of Pendles talking about the injury to Shaz. Either my mum or I (or possibly both) are suffering from dementia. |

I’m available. Just saying. I can run 5km in under 30 minutes, probably close to 25 minutes if there are free beers at the end. _________________ All We Can Be |

So here we have it:
TEST:
J. Howe (Concussion)
B. Mihocek (Annkle)
B. Sier (Leg)
Hopefully all three get up for AFL/VFL this week. Worst case seems to be one game out.
1 WEEK:
J. De Goey (Leg)
Haven't heard any more news about this being worse than first thought. We'll be praying that he'll be right to go once we're back from Sydney.
1-2 WEEKS:
F. Appleby (Hamstring)
B.Reid (Calf)
Reid will be a welcome addition if he can stay on the park. A lot of our premiership hopes may rest on his legs, as scary as that sounds.
2-3 WEEKS:
T. Goldsack (Knee)
R. Wills (Hamstring)
Sack could become a massive fairytale if things go right for him.
3-4 WEEKS:
J. Elliott (Hamstring)
Doubtful to get into the seniors from here. I think the best we could hope for is a big VFL finals campaign, which is still something to look forward to.
5-6 WEEKS:
A. Treloar (Hamsting)
Dont know if he can get back into the team for finals. Just do what you need to do Adam.
SEASON:
T. Broomhead (Leg)
Dunn (Knee)
Kirby (Heart)
Scharenberg (Knee)
Wells (Foot)
'Berg and Dunn are the big ones. A lot may rest on Reid and Goldsack coming back to play their positions. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

I know its tough, but try to stay positive. We can win the 4 remaining games;
Sydney, form slump, injuries of their own.
Brisbane, in Melbourne.
Port, in Melbourne.
Freo, in Perth, but frankly, they suck.
If results go our way, we may be able to rest a few guys for the trip to Perth. But obviously theres a bye before finals. And by then we'll hope to have everyone from Elliot up playing in either the AFL/VFL, with Treloar a slight chance to return in September.
Dont throw in the towel just yet. We can do it. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

I'd be tempted to keep De Goey back the extra week and bring him in for the Port game rather than against Brisbane on the harder Etihad surface. We should be able to account for them without him. _________________ I hold a cup of wisdom, but there is nothing within. |

Rudeboy I thought I heard the same... Channel 9 news it was the way they said it. Glad it's not the case.
I still cannot believe we have had 4 knees for the year. _________________ Go Pies! |

So when the club states that scans have shown Elliott has suffered another hamstring injury would this mean the scans have shown a tear?
I only ask because I remember when Buckley suffered persistent hamstring injuries in the latter stages of his career it wasn't until they decided to surgically explore the area they discovered a small tear that wasn't showing up in the medical imagery.
Perhaps that is needed here also? _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

I saw it live and have watched it several times since and I can't see how he did a hammy in that tackle. I reckon it's a strain or referred pain, not a tear. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Watching it live it looked to me as if he hurt his back again in that tackle |

Maintain the faith people
Yes we've got injuries. But the team for week 1 of finals will still look something like this (dare i say it, barring further injuries in the next month)
maynard moore reid
langdon howe crisp
phillips pendles sidebottom
thomas mihocek de goey
WHE cox stephenson
grundy sier adams
int: varcoe aish greenwood + 1 of fasolo crocker blair oxley appleby murray brown daicos smith
treloar is the wildcard if he gets back
otherwise we will still be fielding a very competitive 22. nobody will give us a chance against the eagles over there in a qualifying final. i can smell it already.... |

You left out Chris Mayne, whom it's been reported that he missed training today and has been sent for scans...another one in doubt _________________ I find your lack of faith disturbing |

Mayne sent for scans. It has to be the training surface. It just HAS TO BE.

There certainly seems to be something beyond mere luck. Obvious possibilities include the training program/loads, training ground, preparedness to recruit players with medical/injury issues.
I don’t know the answers, but questions certainly need to be asked again internally. When you compare our recent few years injury history to the AFL averages in the AFL injury survey we are way over re ACLs and hamstrings. _________________ All We Can Be |

Going into finals we are potentially missing 25% of our senior listed players.
Kayle Kirby
Tim Broomhead
Lynden Dunn
Daniel Wells
Matt Scharenberg
Jamie Elliott
Jordan DeGoey* (if reports of crack is true then we wont see him again this season)
Adam Treloar* (may be back in time)
Tyson Goldsack* (pushing to be back but club will be conservative)
That does not include the players that we expect back in the couple of weeks. The above we may not see again in 2018. _________________ Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy. |
