Our ‘small’ Forward line has forced their hand. Hilarious as everyone from Riewoldt to Tim Whatson talked up stanley all week.

We now must try to exploit our ruck dominance even more. Want to see Brody just smashing it 20m and our smalls swooping on it.

No changes for the Magpies.

Not like the Cats to pull a late change 🙄🙄
I guess Blicavs now rucks and that takes him away from their defence.
Menangola is a big body. He’s their Wills.
It’s a good night to win the ground ball contests cause that’s where the game will be played.

Go Pies !!

Matthew Scarlett tells @3AWisfootball Jake Kolodjashnij will start on Jordan De Goey.

Knights told SEN that Selwood would play more inside role today. Will Greenwood go to him?

Possibly Cats most important player to play a negating role on Grundy.

With that late change it is fair to say that Chris Scott has bigger balls than Sidey after the operation.

Ball on the ground is good for us in the forward line. Great analysis of Rupert Wills on afl.com. Hope he cements his spot tonight.

Thanks to the poster who gave the link to the analysis of Rupert Wills on the AFL website (the Data Game). Absolutely fantastic statistical confirmation of what we have observed, but the numbers are extraordinary.
The inclusion for Menengola by them...perhaps suggests that Geelong have been studying the same set of numbers and aim to negate the Rupert Wills factor!
Were they planning this move all along to "throw a cat amongst the magpies" ? Who knows, but the downside of their move is that Grundy will have less opposition to deal with. If they have their Wills (Menangola) killing the ball at the centre as well, that seems like a nil all draw, but if Grundy gets off the chain we need to be able to take advantage of it.

I don't think Geelong loses anything in the ruck with Stanley out as whether it's him or Blicavs it was always about halving the contest around the ground against Grundy rather than winning the hit out battle.

Given mobility is the strongest suit of Stanley also and he was lauded for his performance in round 1 only team balance might be the winner for Geelong with this move.

While our shorter attack has made this decision for Geelong easier and they still have some quality tall defenders anyway this move still does carry some risk as Blicavs is arguably Geelongs best defender capable of playing on bigs and smalls and his absence could potentially expose someone like old man Taylor if he's forced to cover one of our explosive forward threats.
