Its a reasonable tactical reaction by the Pies when you think about it. If the umps aren't going to ping opposition defenders for blocking Cox, then equally Pies can block opposition defenders without sanction in response. All's fair in love and war.

Interesting analysis. And makes a lot of sense. The reason for Cox's incredible improvement in leading could be in part due to the role of our small forwards in counterblocking. While Cox should probably not have mentioned this publicly, I can;t see how WC could hope to "counter counter block" or small forwards. ... |
JS & WHE recorded a large number of repeat sprint efforts last week, with only JS getting a small reward of a goal near the end. WHE escorted a teammate's kick over the goal line for goal a couple of times. I hope they manage to spot him when he's in space I50. He often runs hard both ways and his opponent cannot go with him. Sometimes teammates just don't see him. (e.g. the Grundy goal against Adelaide --- just as well Grundy converted, because he could have chipped it inboard 20m to WHE.)
Someone may need to bob up for some goals, though. If WCE's forward line gets on top, we'll simply need to match their output. |

W H E spent his time on Vlaustin last week ( until he went forward late ) and everyone knows how important he is to their back six. Vlaustin was virtually ineffectual and I would say internally, they would have been very happy with W H E’s game. He’s certainly getting up the field more and that reduces his shots on goal. Will likely get Jetta or Hurn tomorrow and if he keeps either of them as ineffective as he did Vlaustin, no one will be complaining. |

I wonder whether he'll start up on the wing, given he was moved there in the first final. We need scoring power, though.
In other news, Ch. 7 report that the spotted hyenas have tipped WCE. I need to check whether spotted hyenas are colour-blind before believing them. Otherwise, they may just have liked the yellow and blue on the box. |

Amongst the festivities and decorations, Upon the happy faces and cheerful smiles, whistling away there is a cool change in the air that has approached.
The sky is Grey, the air is Cool, the MCG is Cold.
Different emotions start to settle in.
The Eve of War is a restless and long night, smiles disappear and Tension rises.
Make no mistakes, there is a brave group of Warriors coming for us. From the land of west, they fly together and prepare for War. They bring an army with them intent on Invasion. They call themselves Gladiators ready to conquer the MCG.
However, what they dont yet realise.
Is that they wont be playing at the G....
Tommorow they step on to The COLLESIUM, and they dont face a Mortal Warrior. They face the GREAT BLACK & WHITE BEAST. Ready to Devour anything in its path.
THE SLEEPING GIANT HAS AWOKEN !! The Giant that dwelleth LIVES here! _________________ Gavin Brown.. Collingwood lifting..Right on the boundary line, back to Milane likewise... DAICOS nearly runs out of room........ GOAL

And media are now reporting Dane Swan's been nabbed for drink-driving...
It's okay. He's not part of the team. Let's stay calm. [And reportedly 0.054% --- quite marginal.] |

Yep, but it was 11:30am. Clearly a big night and he got in the car 20 minutes too early _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |
