Just thought I'd let you all know that there's been another addition to the Collingwood army:
My second daughter - Laura - was born at 7.40am this morning.
WOOHOO!
(Hopefully we'll win more premierships in her lifetime than mine = 1) |

Congratulations Broadie and ....
I assume there's an and.
Suffer the children to come unto the shrine
So that the mark of the Magpie may be placed deep and forever
And it will be good in the eyes of the crowd
And great rejoicing shall be seen within the crowd
And the cry of the crowd shall be DAICOS DAICOS DAICOS
Such will be their exaltation.
And the child will belong.

Congratulations Broadie! Hope little Laura will love Collingwood as much as you do and I don't think she will ever have to go through the pain that we have with the Mighy Pies. The only way is up!!! I hope that Mother and Baby are both doing well and hopefully you haven't got too much of a hangover!!
You should take her to the Family Day and get her photo taken with Bucks!! |

Well done Broadie! You are an inspiration to us all, as we have to keep our numbers up. If we can not do it by winning premierships (and hence attracting new supporters) we have to do it by breeding (the Catholic way).
You will have to bring Laura along, to the Cricketer's Arms, when you next meet up with the lads and lasses from the page again.
I want the first words she says to be "Maggies" and the first sentence to be "Carn the Maggies". |

Hey Broadie, it would be good if you could post a photo of little Laura on this BB so we can see the latest addition to this big happy family. |

Thanks for all the good wishes everyone. I printed them off to take into Laura's mum......Mrs Broadie!
MIKE: Thanks for the email address - I'm not sure how soon she'll be using it though! Loved the "poem / prayer - if my good Catholic upbringing (Greg J, you were spot-on there) serves me right, it's adapted from part of the "Good Book", isn't it?
I'm hoping Laura's a better omen than Julia - who was born at the end of 99, just in time for the wooden spoon. Julia made it to 6 months old without a Collingwood victory
Family Day is on the cards, Magpie Maniac.
London Dave - that'll be a "liquid" cigar.
Joffa - couldn't possibly put the weight of expectation that naming her after you would bring....mainly because we could afford the bar tab
Emma - the Sav posters are up and STAYING UP no mattey what happens in 2001 and beyond.
Magpiera/Greg J - Some of Julia's first words were "Go Pies", and she says that anytime that ANY sport is ont TV or she sees pictures of sports. At 22 months old, she can already sing most of "Good Old Collingwood".
CJ - I'll try to get a photo up in the next week (just a matter of getting access to a scanner)
Spidergirl - She's already got the bib, jumpsuit, beanie and......wait for it......a size 2 leather "Magpies" jacket!! I would ask you to chaperone her to her first game...but I've read too much of what you get up to.
Thanks again all. Just goes to show who the REAL family club is.

'Suffer the children' is from the Book, Broadie, the rest - a pure late night ramble.
I sincerely hope that your parental influence is stronger than mine was. I have three boys and only scored one for Collingwood. Their mother got one for Melbourne and the other was caught up in the Essendon groupie cult. I must add that only one of them (Nick) has any passion for football. The legacy of Collingwood is unbridled, unreasoning, fanatical passion... and there's no escape. |
