Pies' manager contests sacking over alleged drug dealing

A Collingwood Football Club manager who allegedly traded signed Magpies' jumpers for drugs has filed for unfair dismissal after being sacked by the club.

SHERRYN OSBORNE, who's 28, met club officials at the Australian Industrial Relations Commission today following her dismissal over drug trafficking charges.

The conciliation conference was closed to the public.

But it's understood the former merchandising manager is seeking reparations from the club, claiming her job was wrongly terminated.

OSBORNE was released on bail in September on charges of trafficking commercial quantities of ecstasy and amphetamines.

She's accused of trafficking 3,000 ecstasy pills between June and July this year supplied by her boyfriend SHANE WATERS -- the alleged principal in a $1 million drug ring involving nine defendants.

My sister ordered some merchandise from her earlier this year from Germany. She waited weeks and weeks for it to be delivered. Eventually she got a telegram from the post office advising her to come down for the package to be inspected. They made her open it in front of Customs officers.

True story. Maybe they were on to her longer than we think? Wink

Thats too funny........send her to jail and she can fall of a bunk bed and retire rich.......the law is too funny sometimes as it protects the wrong people.

Can't see how it's unfair dismissal and i'm a unionist and have been in the AIRC myself as a witness. No way would i be a witness in this case if i worked with her. Most companies have clauses in relation to illegal activities using their premises or equipment and as far as i can see from all the reports....that's what she did. Her phone was a company phone, the Shop was run by the company and the merchandise belonged to the company, so that in itself is theft and grounds for dismissal.

Interesting concept though and the transcripts will be VERY interesting reading!! I'll post the link when they are available.

I agree with Rupert when you go to jail you lose all rights. The fact that prisoners are suing is an absoloute farce. Why should prisoners get Foxtel and Table Tennis and crap like that when many people in society dont have these facilities.

The fact that someone can traffick drugs at work and then have audacity to claim unfair dismissal is a joke.

People get sent to jail for a reason and it isnt to practice table tennis and catch up on Jerry Springer!!!!
