Police search Jacko's ranch

http://news.ninemsn.com.au/Entertainment/story_16120.asp

Quote:
AFP - Police and prosecutors' investigators swooped on pop icon Michael Jackson's Neverland ranch in California, officers said, declining to give the reason for the search.

"At 8:30am (0330 AEDT) Santa Barbara sheriff's department and district attorney's office investigators executed a search warrant at the Neverland Ranch in connection with a criminal matter," sheriff's Commander Jeff Meyer told AFP.

"As of now, there is no further information regarding the cause or the circumstances regarding the service of the search warrant, which was approved by a judge," he said.

Press Association reported that CourtTV's Diane Dimond, speaking from Neverland, said the raid was in connection with an abuse charge from a 13-year-old boy.

The raid on the reclusive superstar's country mansion comes nine months after prosecutors investigated his admission in an interview that he slept in the same bed as a 12-year-old boy before dismissing claims of wrongdoing.

Prosecutors in Santa Barbara, a town about 160km north of Los Angeles near which the eternally-youthful Jackson, 45, has lived for years, declined to comment on the raid.

In February, Santa Barbara prosecutors said they were concerned over pop Jackson's "unusual" revelation that he shares his bed with children, but there was no evidence that he had committed any crime.

The legal flurry came after Jackson told a British television interviewer that he had formed a close friendship with a 12-year-old boy named Gavin who regularly spends the night at his Neverland mansion.

Former child star and self-styled "King of Pop" Jackson denied any impropriety with the boy who he said was a friend.

Child advocates had however called for a full probe into the eccentric Peter Pan of music who was in 1993 was accused of sexually abusing a young boy, accusations that were later settled out of court.

"The conduct of any adult under these circumstances sleeping with a child is certainly calculated to raise concerns and be considered by most reasonable people as unusual at best," District Attorney Thomas Sneddon said in February.

The 1993 investigation into child sex allegations against Jackson -- a matter that Jackson settled an undisclosed civil payment -- remained "open, but inactive", he added.

Jackson rejects abuse allegations

http://news.ninemsn.com.au/Entertainment/story_16120.asp

Quote:
AFP - Michael Jackson considers child abuse charges against him "scurrilous" and will return to California immediately to defend himself, a spokesman said.

"The outrageous allegations against Michael Jackson are false," said spokesman Stuart Backerman in a statement.

"Michael would never harm a child in any way.

"These scurrilous and totally unfounded allegations will be proven false in a courtroom.

"Naturally, the implications are distressing to everyone who hears them, which is precisely the point.

He hides behind his money and accusses everyone of trying to extort money from him, what about the multi-million dollar payout he made to keep that family silent?

Would love to be a fly on the wall in the lowlifes cell.
Good ridance you FREAK !

But was that multi-million payout ultimately CHEAPER than a lengthy drawn-out trial?

Innocent until proven guilty in both our fair nations.

The parents of these kids should also be held responsible for allowing their kids to even visit the freak or do you think it's normal behaviour for a grown man to play/sleep with little boys ?

Michael Jackson's behaviour has never been normal.
The whole world turns a blind-eye to his sleeping arrangements until certain parents play the "pedophile card" and go for the ca$h. I'd say this was all very much pre-meditated blackmail.
Obviously Jacko's on a different wave-length to everybody else with what he deems acceptable associations with children.
Although i do agree with you about the parents responsibilities issue. More to the point, it should be up to MJ and his solicitors to draw up contracts prior to children entering his estate in the first place. Then he wouldn't find himself in these predicaments.

Dyso,

Do see some common ground with you on this. I have absolutely no time for Jackson and the kindest light I can put on him is that he is someone who's image has taken over his entire life and he must live in some parallel universe. He obviously believes that the laws and rules of ordinary society do not apply to him.

Having said that. The questions (at best) about his association with children have been on the public record for years. Therefore any parent involved who subsequently claims ignorance must really be testing credibility.

Essentially anyone who has knowingly allowed their child to be involved and subsequently cries foul has only themselves to blame. Jackson may or may not buy the silence of employees and I will love to see the size of the legal bills out of this one. Maybe they'll end up rivalling his plastic surgery bills.

Re the blackmail; quite likely but FFS you think something might have registered upstairs.

I can understand why he longs for special friendships with children. Look at his childhood. Remember the things that his parents did to him.

I can understand the closeness he wants to feel. I don't think there is anything wrong at all in what he does.

He maybe a little weird in some of his idea's and belief's but as far as hurting children............no way.

OMG thats a horrible story assasin and it pisses me off that people can get away with this...

Alrite, so Micheal Jackson he had a bad childhood, im sure it was very hard for him growing up but it doesn't justify him "sleeping" with children

Also, when he admitted that he often slept with children, I think he meant that they slept in his bed, not that he was sexually abusing them.

as dyso said, he is innocent until proven guilty, but no it doesnt look good for him at the moment and if it turns out that he was doing this 10 years ago and it wasnt dealt with properly until now, I think its a disgrace!

Everyone heard the latest on this? Sounds like the kid and his family aren't telling the truth.

Memo discredits charges against Michael Jackson

http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/world/archives/2003/12/11/2003079156

Quote:
NY TIMES NEWS SERVICE , LOS ANGELES
Thursday, Dec 11, 2003,Page 7
Child welfare officials in Los Angeles County do not believe Michael Jackson molested the boy who claims that Jackson abused him while he was a sleepover guest at the Neverland ranch, a leaked memo shows.

The memo, which came from the desk of an administrator at the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, said that a joint investigation conducted in mid-February by the agency and the Los Angeles Police Department turned up no proof of molestation.

"As per the sexual abuse allegations, the mother stated that her children are never left alone with the entertainer," the memo said.

"She further stated that her son has slept in the same room as the entertainer but they did not share a bed. The entertainer would sleep on the floor," it said.

Neil Zanville, a spokesman for the Department of Children and Family Services, confirmed the memo was authentic but could not comment on its contents.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department booked Jackson on charges of child molestation on Nov. 20, but the county district attorney has yet to file formal charges in the case.

The children's department investigation began after the boy, a cancer patient, appeared in a TV documentary holding hands with Jackson and saying he often slept in the entertainer's bed.

Jackson said in the film, "The most loving thing to do is to share your bed with someone," and an official from the boy's school who saw it contacted authorities.

The boy's mother said the news media had taken their relationship out of context and that Jackson was like a father to her children, the memo said.

Furthermore, it said the boy, his brother and sister all denied that anything improper happened when they stayed at the ranch.

The sister, who was 16 at the time, said "she had accompanied her brothers on sleepovers at the entertainer's home and had never seen anything sexually inappropriate between her brothers and the entertainer."

Although:

Sources: Jackson staffer was at accuser's interview

From Art Harris
CNN

http://www.cnn.com/2003/LAW/12/10/michael.jackson/index.html

Quote:
LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- When child welfare workers interviewed in February the boy who now accuses Michael Jackson of sexually abusing him, the boy denied he had been molested by the pop icon, and his mother said nothing improper occurred, according to the report.

Sources close to the prosecution told CNN there was a Jackson employee nearby during at least part of the interview by child welfare agency workers. And, the sources said, the employee's presence had an "intimidating" effect.

"To say there was intimidation going on is an understatement," one source said.

The presence of someone connected to Jackson may have had a chilling effect on the boy's story, one expert said.

"The implied message to the child is, 'I'm here to prevent you from saying anything bad about Michael Jackson,'" said Dr. Astrid Heppenstall Heger, a child abuse expert who heads the Los Angeles-based Violence Intervention Program.

Apparently yes, charges HAVE been laid for child molestation, he could be facing 20-25 years if convicted.

On the other hand, he has pleaded that he has commercial engagements in UK and Europe and prosecutors have released his passport.
