Post subject: WRX v Commodore/Falcon. What's your choice? | |

Being that my pride and joy WRX was recently called a piece of Jap crap on another thread , I thought I would get a better idea of what you guy's would drive given the choice. |

Nothing wrong with Jap.
Though I see the WRX will now sport a Saab badge as well. How does that feel? |

I would rather have my "Jap Crap" than a Falcon or Commodore.
Mine is a 98 Toyota Supra with mods that would leave your WRX for dead. _________________ If you bleed black and white you'll never walk alone. |

id prefer the falcon, its less likely to break into a thousand pieces if i crashed it, unlike crappy WRXs. |

Stik35, my WRX also has quite a few mods, you might be quicker in a straight line but people buy Rex's for the twisties, not 1/4 mile stuff.
cq, not sure where you pulled that from, Subaru's have one of the best saftey ratings and AWD is probably the best active saftey features you can have, stops you getting into an accident in the first place. |

Yeah CQ, Suburus are generally pretty safe cars. I know a few people that swear by them, after being in accidents and surviving, and like blybo said, I'm pretty sure they have very good safety ratings.
The only reason the car smashes into 1000 pieces is because the moron driver is doing 160km/h in a 60 zone. |

I don't like it and neither do Subaru but GM own a significant % of Subaru & Saab and have pushed this as the Saabs have always had torque steer probs with their turbo models. I guess its a pretty good endorcement of Subaru technology tho. |

of course they need extra safety because they are likely to be tear arsed around in therefore the dickheads manage to crash them quite often!
(dickhead magnets)
and they are still jap crap baked bean cans!!
as for 160 in a 60 zone, whats the 60 zone got to do with it, a tree is still a tree! (or in the case your talking about, treeS) |

I had the pleasure of driving both a BA Falcon XR6 turbo and a WRX 2 weeks ago and they are both appealing for different reasons. It's really unfair to compare them against each other. |

I actually think that Falcon has taken a huge step forward with the BA, BUT they need to look seriously at their quality control, there LOTS of unhappy owners on the ford forum aparantly. Things like cars not having a 5th gear or gear sticks coming out in the drivers hand are serious stuff ups. Up until the XR6T came out nothing made in Australia came close to competing with the Rex for performance/price. |

I have an AU, only prob is I couldn't get a manual.
Looking at getting XR6 for this reason and also because they are so cheap compared to in the past.
I hated the AU's when I first saw them but I kinda like the rounded shape now.
My son's XF gearstick has come off in his hand about 3 times, been a problem for years apparently. LOL _________________ If you bleed black and white you'll never walk alone. |

I had a manual when I first got a car, but then I got a new car and that is an auto. I can't wait until I can afford to get a new car (manual) after I've finished uni, got a job, and paid off a bit of my HECS debt. |

The Falcon has come along way in matching and beating the Commodore. However I reckon Holden have something up their sleeves to blow Ford back into the cellars where they belong.
BRING BACK THE TORANA! LOL (Just release the prototype for goodness sakes!) _________________ Tradition? Pfft you call merging with Fitzroy and cheatin to 3 flags Tradition? Winning 4 flags in a row is history, which makes tradition! |
