You will need to download a 'Pop-up killer' If you use Netscape 7.1 it has it's own Pop-up killer, which you can set for different sites.

Yeah, song download software, such as Kazaa, and Imesh generally have 'spyware' installed in them to track where you go on the Internet, and generally have 'adware', where ads basically help pay for the software.

That's why I try and stay away from that type of software. There was actually a version of Kazaa, called Kazaa-Lite, which was a hacked version of Kazaa that contained no ads, no popups, and no spyware. I'm not sure if it's still available though, because I think Kazaa forced them to close their website due to breaches of copyright (because the people that 'made' Kazaa-Lite has just hacked Kazaa, and in doing so breached the copyright). However, I'm sure if you look it will still be available somewhere.

you could find kazaalite at kazaalite.com, or simply download it from kazaa, unistall kazaa and then install kazaa lite, or so I'm told by the disreputable characters who would indulge in that allegedly illegal activity

Google toolbar has a pretty good popup stopper as well

LD, I don't think you can get it from Kazaalite.com (and the associated URLs) anymore for the reasons I mentioned. When I type in kazaalite.com, it actually brings up Ebay. But, I'm sure you'd be able to find it if you looked.

download google toolbar, it has a built in popup killer, very good.
if you have imesh or kazaa, search using that for kazaalite.
also download ad-aware and scan your hard drive for spyware.

http://tucows.alphalink.com.au

You should be able to find some good ad-blocking software there.

I have found the best program for removing spyware is Ad-Aware. If you read the Herald-Sun and the Age online,as I do,you will always pick up their spyware program. This also applies to cricinfo, the cricket scoreboard. You can get the latest version for free at;
http://www.lavasoft.de
You can also download a free fire wall from Zone Alarms. I use the pro version which costs about $29.

Zone Alarm is a good program, pretty good firewall aswell, used to always go off when I was downloading off of Audio Galaxy, though now it's no longer on-line (Audio Galaxy that is).

Also, download a little program called 'NoAds', it has an inbuilt list (which you should update reguarly), and if any ads happen to get through, you can easily add them to the list. It's freeware, meaning you can use it for free, for as long as you want.

Here is a link to where you can download it: http://tucows.alphalink.com.au/adkiller95_default.html

Then just find the software on that page.

A new version of Ad-Aware is out.

It picks up a bit more than version 6.
