hope g.ablett and all the geelong supporters were watching what a REAL mark looks like (he actually held it, when comparing to Ablett over Pert at the G). and sitting in the afl southern stand he actually had 2 beers before coming down.

I was behind that "mark" of Ablett's. no way did he control or hold it. notice how whenever you see it now it is only played in slo-mo cause it cannot be shown in normal speed. Even the Cats supporters conceded that it was no mark.
It's a pity the game was not in the balance at that stage as then the ump wouldn't have dared pay it.
As for Leon, ...yahoo, what a grab! pity he missed the goal.

well I'd hate to be a party pooper but I thought that Ablett controlled the ball, only for a split second but if your an umpire you'd have to pay it. He went on to kick a point so it didn't really matter. Sean Smith in Brisbane is the best mark I've seen on TV. Chris Tarrant in 99 against the Kanga's where he did his ankle landing is the best one I've seen at the ground and the best Collingwood mark of all time would be Peter Moore sissoring Fitzpatrick and pulling down a screamer. I love seeing that, it's right up there with magro running through jezza and banks hitting rhys-jones in my highlight reel against carlton.

Ablett controlled it ????
A spectacular infringement should never be a mark.

Is the rule u have 2 hold the ball for 3 seconds and have control of the ball 2? well ablett didnt do that .. so i reckon Leon mark was better,

I'm saying it was barely a mark but yet such a great effort and since he controlled it slightly to pay it. I think the ump did the right thing. I think if it had of been a Collingwood player who had of taken it we'd all be claiming it to be a mark.

The rule on marks is simply that the player needs to have controlled the ball, which Ablett never did.

Broadie , I would have to agree with u there .. its like shaun smith of (brisban lions) he controlled it well and Fradam, if it was a collingwood player i dont think the umpire wouldnt of played it coz of the simply reason is ... its "Collingwood" its like sayin' givin a freekick 2 wayne carey and it wasnt even there ... and has 2 be right in front of goals
