There are a few nerds at my school that have so called "LAN" parties where a group of them all bring thir computers, connect them up and play online games against eachother. Is that what you're talking about, Joel?

HAHA Daks!

We used to have them when we were in like Year 9 (I'm in my 3rd year at uni now, so that was quite a while ago).

It used to be fun, it was something to do.

LAN = Local Area Network
LAN Party = 2 or more geeks connected on a LAN, playing multi player games.

LAN parties are great, most computer clubs have LAN parties and you can have more than 100 people playing various games, check one out.

Me and a couple of mates have a lan every couple of months, we spend the whole weekend, from friday night after work till sunday night playing games at one of our houses. It's great fun.

The girlfriends just go shopping and watch videos.

Nerds, geek games, etc. My house mate used to call us that when we played LAN games, until she actually tried it while we were playing Medal of Honour. She was totally hooked after that and bought herself a brand new computer just so she could play too!

Don't knock it till you try it.

Never tried it, I only play games on the PS2 by myself, or sometimes with my older brother.

Proto m8, if you ever get the chance give it a try, it's the best way to play games, 10+ people playing Unreal Tournament is a blast!
since we moved state I don't get to play LAN games much, only time I get to is when I get my 10yo nephew to come and stay over, it's not easy being a geek Smile

And don't limit yourself to 1st person shooters. We've seen the sun come up many times with a 4 v 4 C&C Tiberian Sun bout.

I agree Blanch, I am more into RTS than shooters, and have had some epic LAN battles in RA2, AOE, Sudden Strike etc.
I'm not in melb punk but if some one with a fat pipe to the net wants to host a game count me in Wink
I'm only at dialup speed tho.
