Our wonderful government sponsored TV station that we all pay our 2 cents for have slipped up by reading a story about a same sex couple to the kids on Play School.
Is this TV gay agenda ever going to stop?

If they didn't play the VFL on Saturdays I wouldn't even watch this minority group supporting station.

I'm for the majority.

Thats absolutely disgraceful, Why the hell should kids be learning about homosexuality at that age.

However I don't think the ABC is any worse on the subject then the other channels. It seems every time you start watching the commercial channels these days, up pops a couple of gay blokes renovating houses half naked. Either that or they're trying to tell us how to dress like gays.

I usually watch the ABC much more than any other channel but they're all just as bad on this subject.

It has nothing to do with bigotry. I'll explain same sex couples to my 8 year old daughter when I AM READY TO, not when the ABC tells me to.

I'll never accept changes that involve children who get no say in the matter, being placed into those sorts of enironments. It's cruel and inhumane.

There are plenty of normal couples who cannot have children of their own, and yet there are people who would prefer to see children start life at a severe disadvantage, not to mention the torment and ridicule they have to go through.

Children need the influence of both a man and a woman to be able to develop properly and be capable of reaching their full potential. It doesn't matter how loving and caring a gay couple may be, that child is being deprived of the bare essentials in life in order to serve the interests of the parents.

Whether you agree with what I've said or not, the ABC is still teaching kids about sex education on Play School which they have no right to do.

Was their any reference at all apart from "my two mums" to the fact that this kid has two mums.

No, there wasnt, but I'd love to know how many very young kids turned to their Mother or Father & asked; Why has that girl got two Mums & no Dad?
The ABC have no right to do that.

Dude, my 8 year old daughter hasn't watched Play School for years. Perhaps if you gently start allowing her to view more age-related programs, the REAL WORLD won't be such a shock to her once you're "ready" to let her into it..... Confused

I have three beautiful kids who look up to me for guidance.

When "The Block", Straight eye, Big Brother or any other show comes on TV I have the choice of turning it off. My kids are to young to know when to turn a supposedly safe show off, eg. Play School.
It is though the ABC is desensitising our kids to prepare them for the onslaught of gay ridden commercial television.

I still reserve the right to teach my children as I see fit.

Exactly!

The ABC/Play School had NO right to force this issue upon parents. I have nothing against lesbian/gay couples (etc), but the point is, parents should be allowed to choose when they want to raise the issue with their children, rather than be forced to tell the kids when they are so young.

So what you guys are saying is, if they don't see it you don't have to actually explain it to your kids. Yeah if I had kids I guess I would hide them from the real world too.........

But then again I don't have kids. Who am I to judge.

No Tess, you are completely and utterly wrong. Now, have a think about this, people want to have the choice as to how they raise their kids. They want to the choice to be able to tell them about things are the right time. People do not want issues forced upon them, when the child probably isn't ready to understand the whole concept.

The fact that they now have no choice, and have to address the issue if a child raises it, is wrong.

Once you let your children watch TV, they'll constantly come up against new/different/challenging ideas and influences. It's called experience.

If their comunication channells are open to their adult role models, no matter which sex, they will ask, "What's that mean?"

This notion of kids being in moral danger because they may have 'two Mums' or 'two Dads' is absolute nonsense. It's well documented what incredible abuse can be and is inflicted on children by so called 'normal' couples.

'The fact that they have no choice' as you put it, Joel, is largely up to the parent/s. So often, TV is used as a defacto baby sitter when the parents want to socialise (or whatever).

The kids can access any amount of bad influences when left alone with the remote and I suggest far worse than a child hearing another child on Play School referring to her 'two Mums'.

Ahhh, but Donny, in the past parents have been able to let children watch programs (we are talking about really young kids here), such as Play School, with the knowledge that it can be stimulating to the child, without presenting absolutely foreign ideas to them that the parents now have to address because the issue was forced on them.

I'm not a believer of the idea, that just because they (kids) can access inappropriate content elsewhere, that is alright for a children's tv show to show such a thing. There is nothing wrong with being gay/lesbian, but that doesn't give the ABC the right to shove the issue down a parents throat, when they may not feel a child is ready to address an issue such as that.

Kids who watch play school are about 3 years old to 6 years old right?
I want to know how many kids that age actually picked up the "my two Mums" comment
Anyone who missed that actual comment and watched the segment would have assumed it was two Mums with their two children going on rides
I have trouble beleiving children are that perceptive they can pick up "my two mums" and ask their own parents
