Being re-elected for however many times proves that someone is a successful and clever politiciann not their stature or relative worth.
That judgement should be made after the event. Howard's legacy is for the future to judge. _________________ he's an animal, what can u expect!!! |

Menzies was obviously before my time but from what I'm aware of, he stands head and shoulders above anybody else. But why post-war? I'm not particularly aware of any great pre-war leaders.
Anyway he's the best pm in my life time (i.e. better than Keating and Hawke) _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

John Howard is Australia's most successful federal politician since Menzies.
That much is beyond dispute.
However ... being a successful politician does not make you a good leader.
It doesn't even make you a good person ... in fact, it might even indicate the exact opposite.
In John Howard's case it's more an indication of the level to which political debate in Australia has sunk.
The recent Federal election was a complete disgrace. Neither of the two leaders, Howard or Latham, offered any sort of vision for Australia. Both offered us only lies and bribery to support their claim to be Prime Minister.
Howard was better at it than Latham.
Better at lying ... and better at bribing the electorate.
As a politician, Howard has done very well for himself. It sure beats working for a living.
But to claim that he is a great political leader because Australia's pampered materialistic voters got sucked in by his treachery yet again is to display a complete lack of understanding of what constitutes political leadership.
Nuxta, you might appreciate this:
My favourite bit in the Bible is where Jesus walks into the temple and goes ballistic ... upsetting the tables of the money-lenders, and berating them for turning his Father's house into a den of thieves.
Now, that's the sort of leader this country needs.
And do you know how many votes a leader like that would get?
Absolutely ZERO.
Because he would be assassinated by the CIA before he even got to stand for an election.
Howard would be way too gutless to do anything like that.
He is a small man.
With a small mind.
And an even a smaller heart.
He is YOUR leader ... not mine.
He is the perfect leader for this age of unending mediocrity.
The most mediocre Prime Minister in the history of what is fast becoming a very mediocre nation. _________________ Line and Length ... Line and Length ... Line and Length |

Howard a better Prime Minister than Hawke and Keating?
HAHAHAHAhHAHAHAHAHA
His vision for this country would have fitted in well in 1904, not 2004.
What are his achievements in 8.5 years in office? What's he done for the environment? What's he done for our Aboriginal population? What's he done for the republic? What's he done for sustainability in the Australian economy?
The only thing as depressing as Howard's prime ministerhip is the current state of the Federal ALP. |
