What a fantastic player he was.
-2 brownlow medals
-THAT mark against Carlton
-brilliant mobile ruckman

Of course he had to tear a hamstring during the finals given our luck.

If he has a silent number, there's no point calling directories. Besides, they keep changing the number on us, so even we don't know. Although 1234 will get you a directory operator and they charge at 30 second intervals..ewww better off with white pages because if it's not a silent number, it'll be in there just as easily as directory assistance (and cheaper)

He's a Collingwood man again now. I saw him at a game at the Telstra dome with his kids. He was sitting in the Collingwood reserved seats area near us.

Hey Boston fan, congrats to the Red Sox, it was a long time coming.

Was good to see the Yankees lose too, they are too much like the Carlton of Major League Baseball.

Hey punkologist. How about those Sox huh? New England was totally paralyzed during the World Series and nobody could talk about anything else. It was crazy but what a great thing for us. Yankees, see ya later, much later. They were as bad a losers as our democrats.

Peter's young lad plays for Ivanhoe Juniors in the YJFL ( and is shaping up really well ) and has helped out in the coaching dept. Needless to say, the parents were pretty overwhelmed - but had to point him out to the kids ( that bloke's won 2 Brownlows ). The 'unfortunate situation' - to the Demons - is certainly water under the bridge so I'd suggest a father/son pick in about 8 years.

Brownlow Medal Winners - Peter Moore
demons.com.au

The Brownlow Medal

At the conclusion of every season, the Australian Football League (AFL) awards the Chas Brownlow Trophy, better known as The Brownlow Medal. The medal is awarded to the player or players adjudged by the field umpires to have been the fairest and best for that season.

The award is named after and is in honour of Charles Brownlow. Brownlow was involved in football in many capacities as a player, captain, coach and administrator from the 1870s to the early 1920s. He was revered and admired by those who knew him because of his gentlemanly demeanour, fine leadership, sincerity, loyalty, fairness and clarity of thinking. As a result, the Brownlow Medal - first instituted in 1924 - is the most prestigious award attainable to an Australian Football League player.

Peter Moore was Melbourne's fourth Brownlow Medallist winning the award in 1984.

Peter Moore

Date Of Birth - 11 January 1957
Playing Height - 198 cm
Playing Weight - 80.5 kg
Recruited From - Collingwood

Guernsey No. 10 (1983), No. 30 (1984-1987)

Melbourne - 1983-1987
77 games, 51 goals
Brownlow Medal 1984
Interstate Representative (Vic) - 1984

Collingwood - 1974-1982
172 games, 193 goals
Brownlow Medal 1979

An agile ruckman with great pace, Moore had great ball-handling skills, which saw him being used at full-forward in his early days with the Magpies. Recruited from Eltham, he became Collingwood's No. 1 ruckman in 1979, following the departure of Len Thompson. His form in this role saw him winning the first of his two Brownlows in the same year. Two years later Moore was made captain, but a hamstring injury took its toll, and eventually he was traded to Melbourne, where he won his second Brownlow in 1984, and became part of the team's resurgence in 1987. He is one of only three players to have won a Brownlow at two clubs, the others being Greg Williams at Sydney and Carlton, and Ian Stewart at St Kilda and Richmond.

'Moore power to two clubs…'
History of the Brownlow Medal

'…returned in career-best form in 1984, relishing his usual on-ball position and winning the Brownlow by three votes from Collingwood's David Cloke…'
(The Complete Guide To Australian Football)

'…Team-mate Tony Shaw said Moore 'had everything…He could run like a hare and could kick the ball a mile…Essendon champion Simon Madden said Moore was the fastest big man he ever had to combat. 'He's the sort of player who if you give him a yard he'd take five. But his pace was not his only strength because he was a strong mark and had a big spring which made him hard to counter in rucking duels.'
(The Complete Guide to Australian Football)

'A ruckman who was no slouch across the ground and very agile for a big man…'

I can forgive and I have gotten over Moore but he doesn’t deserve and exulted status at Collingwood. That is reserves for people who bleed Collingwood. Moore was instrumental in sacking Hafey and all the underlying unrest the lead up and aftermath of that creates and the destruction of the on field performances that have to accompany all of that. Then he walked out on us when we were down partly as a result of his actions. Yes he was a top line Collingwood player and a Brownlow medalists but he aint no Magpie Saint. If he wants true forgiveness and complete exonerations he will ensure his son is our ruckman for a decade and wins two Brownlows in Black and White to make up for the one his old man won at one of our mortal enemies.

Get to working on your son's skills Peter and pray for redemption.

Hey Dude. Thank you for that background info on Peter. He's had quite an illustrious career. Sounds like he can pass it on to the next generation. I've sent him some mail through the club- hope it doesn't get lost in the fan mail!

Doubt that he would be inundated with fan mail these days, so you are in with a strong chance that it will get to him.

Best of luck.
