Let's celebrate his life.
Let's celebrate his choice to continue the ban on condoms. Thus condemning hundreds of thousands to death from AIDS.

Shed no tears for him people. While he sat on his arse in the Vatican on more wealth than you, I, or Eddie McGuire will ever see in our collective lifetimes. He did this while the rest of the catholics lived in poverty on the surrounding streets. Hypocrasy at it's most pathetic.

Better to be a poorman than a fatman in the eye of a needle?

You said it Nat. Religions thrive on brainwashing the feeble minded to part with their money. And their power over the masses.

Careful, these are the type of sentiments that saw that pathetic low-life wanker ostracized.

Some people take offence if you have contrary views to them Crying or Very sad

As a Catholic I am bound by decisions made by the Pope. I first questioned the infallability of Popes when I was 12 at the Marist Brothers.
A good read of history will tell you that some of our Popes have blood on their hands. They have also had some very odd personal foibles.
The saddest thing about John Paul is the legacy he has left behind him.
He took the name John Paul in honour of his immediate predecessors.
John XX111 dragged the church, kicking and screaming into the 19th century. If he had lived another five years we may well have made it into the 20th century. His successor,Paul, committed himself to continuing the process of modernisation of the church. Unfortunately his demise set that process back.
John Paul was one of the most conservative Popes in the last 200 years.
Not only did he stamp his arch conservatism on the church but,by appointing like minded Cardinals similar to that troglodyte Pell, he has ensured the continuance of his conservative mind set.
We can only pray that he got it wrong. The church's hope rests with the Archbishop of Milan. If the light of reason shines on the College of Cardinals and he is appointed the church will again move forward.
Any alternative does not bear thinking about.

Birdy do you even understand the faith you claim to follow
The pope was an idolater according to the scripture as evidenced by his mary worship and adoration of dead saints. You cant be a born again chistain and remain a good catholic as they are opposed to each other.

Hey nuxta I'm not Catholic but I know they don't worship Mary, they ask her to pray for them. Don't believe in it myself but I don't see it as idolatry. The Pope was a wise man and was certainly aware of the second of the ten commandments. They are just minor disagreements and we should all be united as one by faith in Christ.

Galatians 3

26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
