Wake up AFL before it's too late!!!
Took Jed to his first football game tonight & unfortunately we didn't win, but this status isn't to rant on about the loss it's about Etihad Stadium.

Dani & I went to a Western Bulldogs Function on the dining level. When we got to the game we were told Jed, our 2 week old son needed a ticket, to which I nearly fell over! The 2 ticket staff said the Stadium & AFL has brought in this new amended pr...icing schedule this season.

Not that the price was the issue, but to be told a minor who can't even sit up who is in a bassinet pram needs to pay $18 to get into the game was a disgrace!

After we spend $5500 on a yearly membership and $30 to park under the stadium we were then asked to pay $18 to get Jed in, even though we were in an indoor paid event held by the dogs to which I simply told them was ridiculous.

Staff said they would "Let us go" this time but next time we come we would need to pay $18 to get him in as this is the new rule which Etihad Stadium has brought in this year.

The AFL wonders why numbers are dropping off & people are electing to stay at home to watch the football. The cost of our membership is irrelevant because it's a Western Bulldogs Coterie Group, but parking $30, a bottle of water is $5, regular coffee $5.80 and now a 2 week old baby $18 to get in with us is just going well and truly over the top with greed.

From a disgruntled Bulldog supporter. Name has been supplied.

A pretty sad state of affairs.
Hardly something that supporters of the WB can afford.

If you are sure his is true, I think a letter-writing campaign is called for.

I don't have time to organise one, but I'm hpy to send a few ! If all club supporters got together and dumped a ton of mail on Dimwit's doorstep, we might just prove that the people oqn this game and not fat cat executives !

It seems true, although this was dated 1 April....

Quote:
FAMILIES forced to pay up to twice as much to take their children to the footy this season have hit out at the AFL over its new ticket pricing.

Struggling parents have this season seen the price of taking a child aged 6-14 to the MCG or Etihad double to $5.

One Melbourne mum was told to pay $18 to take her baby into Etihad for Sunday’s Bulldogs-North Melbourne clash despite children aged under six allowed free entry to sit on parents’ laps.

Lisa Richardson of West Footscray said she was shocked to be asked for a ticket for her 17-month-old daughter Eloise — and to be told infants in premium areas this year had to be paid for.

Thinking the AFL had decided to gouge more money from fans, Ms Richardson said she was considering not going to the football this weekend despite spending about $1000 on four “premium gold’’ reserved level two seats for her family.

I'm a little curious about the alleged spend of $5,500 per year on memberships. I would expect to buy their entire club for that money.

$50 for a family ticket seems reasonable given an adult costs $25.

and like p4s i was a little surprised at the $5.5k spent on memberships. if i couldn't buy the club for that i'd at least want seat warmers and someone bringing me food and drink all game.

i am a little curious about how much people want to pay to go to the footy.

the food and drink prices are the same for footy and cricket so unless someone takes it up with the catering company i doubt things will change.

Post subject: dad charged $18 2 take his 2wk old baby to AFL matchReply with quote

i think this is a bloody joke what the AFL did to these parents..

Footy dad charged $18 to take his two-week-old baby to AFL match at Etihad stadium

Peter Rolfe
Herald Sun
April 22, 2014

A DAD who took his two-week-old son to an AFL match at Etihad Stadium was outraged to be told he had to buy an $18 seat ticket for the bub.

Point Cook father Jarred Magnabosco said two different Etihad Stadium staff members told him to buy a seat for son Jed, even though he was in a bassinet pram.

Mr Magnabosco, a Western Bulldogs fan, said: “We paid $30 to park at the ground, went to scan our tickets and the girl said, ‘Hang on, have you got a ticket for the child?’ ’’ he said.

“I said, ‘He’s only two weeks old’, and she said, ‘It doesn’t matter, you have to pay $18 no matter what because they have changed the rules’.’’

ARE FAMILIES BEING PRICED OUT OF THE FOOTY? Tell us in the comments below.

Jed was eventually admitted for free, but Mr Magnabosco was told he would have to pay a fee in future.

Mr Magnabosco paid about $5500 for Bulldogs coterie group tickets for his family this season.

He said asking parents to pay $18 for babies was “over the top with greed’’.

“They’re ruining football for young families,’’ he said.

Sounds like the Gate Attendant may have made a mistake according to this bit....

Quote:
AFL spokesman James Tonkin said the league had directed Etihad Stadium to let children under five years into the venue free unless they wanted to occupy a seat, and the AFL would follow up the issue.

“We will follow up again with the stadium to ensure they understand the arrangement,’’ he said.

Where was this bassinet Pram supposed to sit during the game? If was taking up a seat, then he should pay. If he wants the kid to get in for nothing, carry it in and sit it on his lap.

Someone shared something about him being a Dogs member a while back if I remember rightly.

But I mean paying extra, reserving a seat ect something we as Collingwood people have had to do forever and a day.
