Gee you have to be annoyed if you're Melbourne.

Thats another spot on the list that could have gone to someone else. Same with Freo/Yarran.

I can't say I'm fond of him, but I'm grateful for his efforts in 2010 to deliver us a flag.

All the best to him in retirement.

Wonderful player on his day, especially in his mid-career years. There was a time (now long gone) when he vied with Heater for being my favourite player because he was so dependable, as well as being exciting to watch. That all came to an abrupt halt (along with many other things) in the 2011 finals series.

Nevertheless, his was a tremendous Collingwood career - 199 games in the black and white is an awesome achievement (more Pie games than, eg, the greats Jack Regan, Bill Twomey, Des Tuddenham, Scott Russell, Murray the Weed, Thorold Merrett, Peter McKenna, both the Pannams etc etc), especially when I think back to his debut, when he had actually no idea how to go about a marking contest. How quickly he became a driving force in a top team! I would be very pleased to see him welcomed back to the Collingwood fold, very soon.

I wish him every success in his future endeavours.

Surprise, surprise... Harry decides to make a doco about his favourite subject: himself!

Becoming Lumumba: A documentary about the life of Heritier Lumumba

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-12-23/becoming-lumumba-a-documentary-about-retired-demon

excerpt:

Quote:
THE LIFE of retired premiership defender Heritier Lumumba will be explored in a documentary to be released next year.

Lumumba, 30, hung up the boots earlier this week after dealing with repeated concussions.

The documentary, Becoming Lumumba, will detail the rise of a person who grew up in Brazil and went on to win a premiership with Collingwood in 2010. He was named in the All Australian team that year.

Lumumba was previously known as Harry O'Brien before reverting to his birth name in 2013.

"A black man in a white world – Harry searches for his own identity in a country and culture that he feels never really accepts him," a blurb for the documentary said.

Yeah, sorry you never felt accepted in a country and culture that doesn't tolerate ungrateful, self-important whingers and princesses.

With the release of this masterpiece, I am sure His home cinema is set for content for the next 15 years.
