just watching the Melbourne v Geelong Game. seriously Melbourne are going to be an amazing team. They have high draft picks all over the game. too skilled for us. they'd be 5 goals up right now except for the fact that they kick for goal as badly as we do!!!! Its nothing to do with coaching. Its all about the quality of the players executing the plan. some of the kicks are incredible. threads a tiny needle that turns a dodgy kick into the sublime. _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |

While I agree Melbourne are building a quality side with many high draft picks in recent times we have plenty on offer also.
Treloar - GWS priority selection. He and Shiel considered best 2 in draft.
Wells - pick 3
Hoskin Elliott - pick 4
Pendlebury, de Goey - pick 5
Scharenberg - pick 6
Aish - pick 7
Reid - pick 8
Moore - pick 9 bid on earlier by the dogs
Sidebottom - pick 11
Adams - pick 13
Grundy - pick 18
Broomhead - pick 20 _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

almost half of this group and been via trades, so if they live up to their potential kudos to Hine and his group.
Melb on the other hand have got theirs with high draft picks, which is a much easier way to rebuild quality - if you are happy to take the prolonged pain of very low finishes over 5-6 seasons. |

Oh please. Those mother f***ers were gifted those top draft picks that are running around while clubs like ours do it the hard way and the right way. It's sickens me that they were allowed to get away with systematic and blatant cheating such as tanking for those picks. Their punishment was getting roos to coach them which clubs like us no doubt paid for. I hope they fall off the face of the earth. |

Not sure if Wells or Scharenberg have even played games yet. I'd suggest if both of them had been playing their full careers at the pies, we'd have done better.
But i'm not even talking about top 20 picks. I'm talking about number 1, 2 and 3 picks (really high picks). The guys most likely to be truly elite.
Guys like Petracca and Watts are amazing. They have such skill.
By the way, Melbourne just kicked themselves out of this game. 20 behinds to 4. _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |

Still soft old Melbourne, when the game is on the line they fold.
They may play finals, they may even push for the top 4 and prelims in the next few years.
But Melbourne will never win another premiership, flawed club. |

A club that since the 60's has just never had the mettle to go all the way. Just like the saints. We'll be premiers again before they are. Perennial also-rans. _________________ 'Collingwood are the Bradmans of Football'

They're building a great team, despite the loss today.
The improvement was inevitable after a stack of high draft picks, but they've done well with their recruitment in recent times. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |
