Cox should straighten us up and provide a long kick option, no doubt, but if we rely on bombing it in we lose.

We need to run the ball, lower the eyes and pick a target, using Cox deep as the bail out option only, not every time.

I agree one handball one long kick to a leading target.

Hafey was big on it, Malthouse teams did it.

One handball one kick in that ratio.

This 3 handballs to one kick doesn't work or our players don't have skills to pull it off.

But of both maybe ??

Just what we need another small midfielder in Thomas to go with Brown.

Play Kirby.

So much more balanced team than the previous week. I'd drop Thomas, Broomhead and Greenwood from the squad of 25 although I can't see that happening. Cox and Elliot will improve the forward line and Ramsay will add pace to the backline, if selected. With Aish dropped Scharenberg could play on the wing. Buckley appears to have lost faith with Mayne which is the reason he wasn't selected.

I'd like to see big cox start deep in forward line and just kick the fuggen ball long to him.

He will either mark or get it to ground .

You have elliott , fasolo and De gory front and square and bang , goal.

Forget this handball
, going sidewAys and backwards bullshiy.

Just kick the fuggen thing , get a contest and keep it locked in forward line.

It's a simple game plan I know but the Crap we served up against port should never be taken into a game plan again. Atrociously bad footy .

We have the best midfielders running around like headless fuggen chooks looking for a short option .

Just kick the thing long.

Get it on the boot long

No more of this dinky Di short handballs and kicks that create turnovers in back half.

Just kick the bloody thing.

It's called "foot" ball for a reason.

Rant over

Stop it .You're killing me here. All these things aren't happening.Even when a couple of them are done, we win.

He's 182cm, built like a brick and not a midfielder.

Just sayin. Wink

Personally I think it's an opportunity lost not to debut Kirby in a week Elliott returns and so does Cox.

On paper at least a forward line mix of Elliott, Moore, Fasolo, Hoskin-Elliott and Kirby is about the best we can muster at present albeit with a question mark obviously still over a player yet to debut.

The 6th position is still up for grabs in my Collingwood dream team 2017.

Play Cox in games whenever they have the four field umpires. No idea when and why they choose to have the four, but my point is that bomb it long to Cox, he'll get a free kick every time with a green maggot positioned right near him.

Love our selections. Jamie in is fantastic. Would definitely play Cox, gives us another tall and we just need to find out if Cox can play AFL. With Elliott and Fasolo both in, he has the possiblity for maximum effect.
I am rapt to see Josh Thomas elevated to the seniors. I have always liked him as a midfielder. However I am not sure what the intentions are. Is he perhaps going to be in instead of Brown? Or Broomhead?
Would not touch Greenwood, I think he has been fine for us. I think we are waiting for something, not sure what (weather, Hawthorn match ups etc) to decide out of Thomas, Brown, Broomhead.
But I like our team.

Good tactic but won't work for Collingwood as relies on umpires blowing whistle and saying "free kick Collingwood".

Win or lose, we should play Cox for the rest of the season. Lose, and all hope is gone and we've just got to get games into him and see if there is something there. Win, something worked and keep rolling that dice.

Very interesting that Reid is named on the bench, I don't think that has happened before. Also, very interesting that Goldsack is listed on the afl.com Collingwood injury list, but not on our own injury list.

Of those named on the bench, you would think Greenwood and Reid would be in the final 22. One of Scharenberg and Ramsay will be in the 22 to be the 7th member of our defensive rotation. If afl.com is correct and Goldsack is injured, then both Scharenberg and Ramsay will be in.

So, the final spot comes down to one of Broomhead, Thomas and Brown, but in essence I think it is between Broomy and Josh, as I think Callum will be go back to the 2's for a few games. There have been plenty of examples of players being upgraded to be named in the squad, but don't make the final cut and given Thomas had missed a few VFL games through injury before last week, I think Broomy will hold his spot .
