Post subject: Would you play Reid this weekend? | |
|
We all know that Reid is a high quality player.
But he is coming off a 5 week break and he has a long history of soft tissue injuries.
I would play him in the VFL this week and it would be interesting to hear from others about this. _________________ we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest. |

If we were playing another team he would've got a week in the VFL.
He's been rushed back in.
I will be sacrificing a small animal before the game in the hope that he gets through. |

Hopefully the forward experiment will be canned as it only leads to him getting injured. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

Normally a comeback via the VFL would be the norm but I think there are a combination of things that make for a return straight back to the firsts.
This reoccurrence of injury is very familiar to both himself and the club, so they probably have a better understanding of what he can get through more than most " garden variety one off " injuries.
If Reid was ready to go at the bye round ( and I'm not sure on that ) then he would have had the time to get a weeks worth of match simulation drills into him. If that was the case, then he is as ready as he will ever be.
This is a huge game for any finals aspirations. If the club were ever prepared to roll the dice on a very good footballer, then this would be the game to do it ( of course he would still have to be at 90 % + )
One thing I can guarantee is that the club will be damned if they do and damned if they don't. If we lose and he played VFL, then the usual posters will be up in arms. If he breaks down again, either win, lose or draw - ditto.
What odds both a win and Reid gets through ? 7 to 2 for mine. |

I think the Reid and the medical staff would have an educated understanding of his medical status is. Any opinion that any of can make are opinions based upon limited history and little true understanding.
I trust that the club will make the right decision. _________________ Now Retired - Every Day Is A Saturday |

You got to roll the dice, its a massive game and we need CHOP , but I would be Putting Dunn on Dixon. _________________ " Ohhh Banksy and out comes the Note Book".

Season on the line, absolute must win game, and we have an All Australian key position player returning from a few weeks off.
Yeah I'd play him, but then again the VFL side does need help, I'm assuming that's why some of you are saying he should play VFL. Because whatever team he plays in this week he helps them, immensely.
Oh, and 2 REids are better then one, so hopefully Sam is playing for us next year too. |
