Americans love to be able to blame an individual instead of looking at the bigger issue surrounding gun control and with the gunman dead they'll go looking for someone else they can hopefully punish.

NRA card carrying members love conspiracy theories surrounding these mass shootings as it takes focus off the real issue of military weapons being in the hands of civilians.

It's a pattern you see time and again from Sandy Hook to even our own Port Arthur.

The sheriff also described Paddock’s younger brother, Eric, as “manic” in interviews with news reporters outside his Florida home following the shooting but didn’t elaborate.
...
“You can see there’s something associated with the family,” Lombardo said without elaborating.
...

Danley has repeatedly denied knowing anything about the attack and said Paddock never said or did anything that would have led her to believe he was going to carry out a massacre.
But the sheriff said he had doubts about her story, calling it “hard to believe.”
“You would think Ms Danley would have some information associated with that,” Lombardo said.

“Currently, we haven’t been able to pull it out of her, if she has it in her.”

Quite frankly, I find it rather disturbing that the sheriff seems to be engaging in psychobabble. In fact, I'm not sure why he's speaking to the media at all. I'd prefer it if he stuck to what he's trained to do, leave psychological evaluation to forensic psychologists, and leave media interviews to movie stars (given that there's nothing to reveal and he's not appealing for the public's help in any way).

On guns, the international statistics don’t lie.

Those are certainly some damned lies there. The NYTimes is agenda pushing and their statistics have a smell about them.

Here's an article that actually looks at gun control measures and how ineffective they'd be.

Drug given to Paddock calms some, provokes others, experts say.

The anti-anxiety drug prescribed to Stephen Paddock less than four months before his horrific onslaught in Las Vegas is often consumed by marksmen to calm their nerves and steady their aim.

But that same drug — diazepam — also was prescribed for John Hinckley Jr. before his attempted assassination of President Ronald Reagan in 1981. Washington, D.C., attorney Paul Kamenar said Wednesday that he believes diazepam aggravated Hinckley’s mental illness and “actually contributed to his dangerous propensity.”

So, if this is to be believed, Valium can occasionally lead to psychotic acts. If so, at least American Valium users won’t have any shortage of guns to access when the time is right.

I just think it shows how different drugs affect different people.
If I had (years ago) a couple of dexis, that are prescribed to ADHD sufferers to calm them, I was ready to party and didn't sleep.

Ganja has been linked to triggering schizophrenia in susceptible individuals.

I was prescribed Valium when I had a pretty crook back last year. I felt great when I was taking them.... certainly didn't want to shoot anyone.

Valium does nothing to me, but I know others get different reactions. Guess your own physiology plays a big part.
