Mason had bad luck or bad judgement in plucking the pill

The same bad luck that’s dogged him for 4 seasons. Anyone else would say “Delist him, he can’t mark”. We just say “He keeps getting his hands to the ball”.

Confidence, not bad luck. He will learn from it. Meanwhile, park him in the flipping 25m arc from goal and kick it long. We didn’t seem to do it tonight. I think we went with twin rucks theory and it didn’t really work out,

There is no system going forward. None. Nada. Zilch. Cox would do well with a team that had a clear method but he is a sitting duck with out chaos ball method.

Don’t kid yourself. He dropped about 17 marks he could have taken, many of them completely uncontested. He lacks basic skills. If he performed like that at Hawthorn, Clarkson would put his fist through the List Manager’s head and then never pick Cox again.u

Wouldn't be so bad if we ever had any numbers to the fall of the ball.

Have you ever seen a team have ZERO players crumb a contest???

Great point. But the genius duo of Hine and Buckley never recruilt crumbing forwards,so that's why we don't have any there.

Mason's problem is he lacks the confidence and/or conviction to attack the aerial contest with power. He gets weak hands on the ball, and the ball invariably spills.
He also looks a bit laconical and timid when the ball is in his area. Play like you mean it Mason, itl's not basketball.
I'm still a believer in Coxy, but he's got to want it bad enough.

Peter Daicos
Troy Lehman
Brad Rowe
Shane O'Bree
Brodie Holland
Alan Didak
Paul Medhurst
Andrew Krakeuer
Steele Sidebottom
Travos Varcoe

Barely 10 genuine front and centre players in the past 30 years at Collingwood. (Leon Davis, Jarryd Blair, Alex Fasolo and Jamie Elliott lead and fly for marks).

Horrendous ability to spot talent in this regard or value this type of plyer.

I think Cox often struggles to mark if he can't get a clear run at it and get separation from his opponent.

When body contact is maintained and it's a contested mark situation he continually drops them after getting a fair piece of the ball.

It's infuriating to watch.

Cox couldn't catch a cold and maybe he dropped some acid pre game and thought the football was a big mean yellow monster that would kill him if he marked it...

Oh FFS. You've just ruined a completely constructive conversation with your sarcastic remark. Why do you do this???

Do you think he needs more physical conditioning in the arms? I'm not being facetious or sarcastic, but I know that if you're not strong enough in the arms to grab a ball, it will spill out of your grasp.

Cox is a liability if he can't mark the ball. Doesn't have any other attributes that he can fall back on if his marking fails him.

If we're relying on him to score our goals this year, then we're in big trouble.
