"SENSATIONAL STEELE
There’s no doubt that Steele Sidebottom is in career-best form at the moment. The star midfielder and part-time forward now leads the AFL Coaches’ Association Champion Player of the Year award. He is the only player to poll votes in each of the first five rounds."

Great to see that the Anzac Day judging personnel agreed with the coaches on BOG.

funny how 1 coach rated the games of Varcoe and Grundy and the other coach rated JDG & Maynard. Would be interesting to know who rated which ones

Did they give the separate coaches' votes? Since when has that happened?

How the leaders are faring.

31 Steele Sidebottom
28 Nat Fyfe (Frem)
26 Tom Mitchell (Haw)
25 Brodie Grundy
24 Rory Laird (Adel), 24 Dustin Martin (Rich)
23 Ben Brown North (Melb)
20 Patrick Cripps (Carl)
19 Max Gawn (Melb)
18 Stephen Coniglio (GWS)
18 Trent Cotchin (Rich)
18 Lance Franklin (Syd)

Cripps' 32 disposals and 9 tackles will earn him some minor votes.

Franklin didn't play. Ben Brown kicked 4 goals. Only 8 disposals overall but could get a minor vote or two.

Early days but Coniglio is getting plenty of ball, for the Giants. 19 disposals to half time.

I see. Well, the C1: Treloar 5, Varcoe 1; C2: Treloar 5, Varcoe 0
are two certainties for starters...
And then (with one 1 used up) it must be Grundy 2 & 0 or 0 & 2 and
Maynard 0 & 2 or 2 & 0...
And then (with the 5s used up) it must be Sidebottom 4 & 3 or 3 & 4 ...
Which leaves a total of only one 1, one 3, and one 4, so those must be used on de Goey 3 and Pendlebury 1+4 ....

So there are only two possible assignments, i.e. the one listed or with Grundy and Maynard swapped between C1 & C2. Of course, we don't know who C1 and C2 are either, so if that matters there are only four possibilities...

Coniglio faded but could still get minor votes. Beamer was best for Brisbane.

Martin had 29 disposals but his D/E of 55 could see him get only minors.

Gawn, again best for Melbourne.

Sidey unlikely to draw votes. Treloar and Howe should.
