Interestingly, he's only got a losing record against 4 teams;

Hawks 1-11 8.33% Shocked

Port 2-6 25%

Dogs 2-5 28.57%

Crows 2-1-4 35.71%

Can't really count the 1st two years, by his own admission, the team was still on autopilot from the Malthouse era.

If you take away 2012 in particular, it's not as "impressive".

Is a minimum of 12 wins too much to ask for in 2018? And is that the pass mark?

After 7 years in the job, I seriously would hope he has improved in the actual job. Once again he has the best excuse in injuries and in saying that a good coach is someone that has coached a team that has been at the bottom and at the top. A weeks a long time in football and let's revisit this in round 10.

Agree with the injuries and given all the injuries in the last 7 years, you would think or expect youth development would prevail - Not ONE...
(exception our Ruckman!)

it’s not hard to coach against rabble.

Suggest we all wait a little longer until about the half way mark and then judge Bucks as to whether he is on top of his game or not.

I hope that proves to be the case but I’m happy to remain open minded until about then.

If, last Friday night, we lost.... They'd be calling for his head. In the press and on here.

This week the focus is on Woosha and on Essendon. Until we stooge up a couple of games we should be winning that is.

So with a win against an opponent that, quite honestly sucks, the heat has come off a little. A win in Adelaide and on Anzac Day would really release some heat.

Buckley hasn't had a lot of luck with injuries in his time as coach. This is true and even the most passionate Bucks hater has to admit this.

I like Bucks. I want him to succeed. But right now he is 71-1-67 from 139 games i charge. I do believe he's become a better mentor and coach since he first took over, and I do believe that the players are behind him now more so then when he came in in 2012.

But the thing is we really need to stop with the honourable losses and start putting the convincing wins on the board.

Until he leads us to the ultimate glory, they'll be doubters.

I think that’s all perfectly reasonable. I just think that the doubters take too little account of the unique circumstances of his accession. Nobody takes over a team that is just cresting its peak with a beloved coach who does not want to go. He has had to surf the list down, as it lost much of its premium talent ; and then he has had to build it back up again. When the talent is back at premium levels, he’ll be fine.

He’s had to learn, and some of the talent decisions were poor (Heater being the worst, I think, and probably driven by stubbornness and “my way or highway” thinking ) ; but I doubt whether an outstanding mature coach could have done much better than he has, all of the context considered.

We wanted him as coach because he is one of us. I have always thought that the price was worth paying because he is one of us, and fundamentally he has the right instincts even if he has made mistakes.

Travis Cloke said in his recent interview that Bucks has an amazing football brain, equal to the best. Trav then added rather sheepishly that the trouble is he can make things too complicated, because "some of us footballers are pretty dumb". He said that with a smile.

For Buckleys brigade the pass mark is probably 1 win so he has already got a pass for the year!!!

Surely anything less than finals is a failure? Enough of the excuses, he either can coach which means we should be seeing some signs of improvement, we should be winning games of football, or he needs to **** off and let someone else take over.

A coaches win/loss ratio is fairly dependent on the quality and depth of players he has at his disposal.

I’m sure Leon Cameron’s stats look terrific but if he was in charge of St Kilda, North, Brisbane or even Collingwood they wouldn’t be nearly as impressive as he has been with GWS.

Too many supporters expect instant miracles from Buckley simply because he was a champion player. Malthouse and bomber Thompson all took a number of years to win a flag.

I can see that we are heading in the right direction so I’m prepared to back him.

Cynical...but alot of truth in it. The Bucks armada were exuberant after the win against Carlton. I likewise was exuberant...not because this game proved that "Bucks can coach", but rather because i saw some improvement in the coaching, finally. However, we can't keep saying that because we are so close, because our 'losses are honourable" ,we can be satisfied. I think many inadequate coaches have been able to point to "honourable losses". Enough of this "being competitive" BS because our loss was within 20 points. I am done with "honourable losses", because they are worth FA. We need to
demonstrate that we can win. If we cannot win, then we need to move on.
No excuses about the list, Bucks. It is your list, anyway.
