I don’t think that all those who questioned Buckley were wrong. The results were worrying, and it has taken longer for the sun to come out than I expected. It is good to keep faith, but at times it felt like throwing good money after bad.

The only people who really should reflect on their behaviour are those who refused to even contemplate that they might be wrong, and those who were completely certain in their convictions that Buckley was a useless coach and a grasping, negative, immature man. Some people see only one side of evidence, and personalise their opinions. One hopes that they learn from this experience, but they never do.

But many honest Collingwood supporters like yourself doubted Buckley’s coaching ability because they loved Collingwood, and they had some clear evidence to support for their doubts, even if I disagreed with the interpretation of the evidence. And anyway, just as catastrophising is a mistake, we should also not convince ourselves that three wins on the trot makes us an elite team, yet. It’s just nice to feel the family coming together again.

The constant run of players with each assisting each other —-Example noted

Crisp has the pill and runs forward —his first bounce fine then his second he juggled the pill

And all the time Treloar runs beside encouraging him —Jack then flips a hand pass over to Adam who finished off the play with a goal

Did Jack feel he may f,”: up so he dished off
Did Adam say “Give it to me”

Whatever it was players working together

Maybe that’s the new plan

Fantastic win.
When I saw the game plan changed for Adelaide, I was hoping it wasnt a one off and that we kept that plan ... we did. Fantastic.
I've been a Buckley critic ... mainly because of the game plan which it looks like he has finally changed. I would rather play the new style and lose than the style we have been playing prior.

2 sides playing run and gun this Sunday should be fun to watch!!!!

True. I love what Bucks is doing now, being proactive, flexible and unpredictable. We didn't see this in previous years, and it was a stubborn stick to one predictable way of trying the impossible. Hence, the doubts and harsh criticism - people didn't see the team improving day in, day out. Things have changed for the good - maybe the review, the coaching team changes, and possibly the critics have made it possible for the reinvigorating the team - we see hope now, even if we don't win we can see things that the fans can get excited about. We hardly had it in previous years.

Enjoyed the game immensely, so satisfying to see us humble the Bombers! There were many gratifying takes out of the game but what impressed me the most was our ability to quickly shut down their movement into the forward line. The we’re forced to waste so much time and opportunity tacking across half back, due directly to our ability to shut down space. The work rate of our mids and forwards was huge!

Belief in themselves and team mates is a massive pillar of success for the boys atm. We’ll go into the Tigers game underdogs with the bookies but I’d imagine Richmond would be a little nervous about this game!

This game imho will be the truest test of where we’re at as a group!

Possible changes

Moore for Reid
Adams for Brown
Elliott or Fas for Crocker?

If we are to trouble Richmond, we can't let both Varcoe and Stephenson rest this week I do not think, but maybe one of them gets a rest

Congrats to Bucks. I thought our structures, pressure and run were very good today. Murray and Stephenson have made a big difference. Good recruiting.

^ foreigner, I don’t think there has been as much discontinuity in coaching attitudes and philosophy as people think. I think we’ve been trying the run and carry style for two seasons now, but we didn’t quite have the personnel to carry it out. I think it has taken time to gel, and that’s been a function of talent growth (Aish, Brown, Thomas, Maynard, and the pace miracles of Stephenson and Murray) plus cohesion.

In coaching as in business, things take time to cohere and bite in the field. Until they do, you cannot be certain you are doing the right thing. But it can be hard to decide when you are doing the wrong thing, too ; when you are merely throwing good money after bad.

I’m a tragic and I love it

I went to bed last night, found sleeping really hard
I thought of Lawson, AB and Dennis, I thought myself a bard
Got out of bed, grabbed paper, pen, and now I’m feeling good
My pithy thoughts of our great team, the mighty Collingwood.

When Howey’s in the clouds with his hands around the ball
“just let it be, this one’s mine” you’ll hear him make the call
Ball under arm and Murray’s off playing catch me if you can
And Grundy in the ruck, well Grundy’s just “the Man”
Treloar he makes another goal-kicking, gutsy run
And some poor bastard forward has to deal with Lynden Dunn
Now Stephenson and Browny, they’re just babes in arm
But Scharenberg is different, he’s just so bloody calm
de Goey kicks to Sidey, who slots it from the arc
And Coxy takes another pack splitting, crunching mark
Will Hoskin E and Joshy T play like they’re 10 feet tall
The way they run, the way they mark, the way they kick the ball
When Pendles has the ball and the universe stands still
He stops and thinks, picks out his man and hits him with the pill
Brayden M and Benny C and Aish stick to their task
Which as a coach, is all that Bucks can really ask
Now Varcoe’s just as hard as any man can be
And Reidy’s getting on but still kicking goals you’ll see
Now Langdon’s in and under and Phillips runs all day
And Crispy might be “steak knives” but by god the boy can play

And in the twos, well look who’s there, yeah things are looking good
For my Black and White, my Black and White the Good Old Collingwood.

Prior to this season Sanderson was I believe forward line coach and Harvey
mids coach

Enter Longmuir to the defence coach role and Budman stoppage coach

Almost over night our defence with some tweaking has improved greatly

A tougher edge to our contests—and Bucks now has two big weapons he didn’t have last yr

Thanks and grateful appreciation John and Gary

Yes to these changes with the short turnaround week. Maybe not Adams. He may need a run in the reserves to gain some match hardness.

Stephenson at pick 6 was a gift. Kevin Sheehan rated him as the standout number 1 pick and it is certainly looking as though he is going to be something special.

I's looking like a strong draft at the top. For us though, Stephenson was absolutely perfect. We badly needed his speed. He, along with Murray, are having a massive impact on how we play.

Looking forward to drafting Quaynor as well Very Happy Maybe too soon, but think he'll be a good addition to our defensive mix.

The other one that surprised me speed wise was Brown. When he has the after burners on he is seriously quick.

Agree on Brown. I can’t be bothered arguing with those who say he is slow.
Just watch him when he needs to find another gear. He’s also evasive in close.
Still 19 and only played around 10 games. This kid has all the tools to go a long way as an inside mid.
