Screw the rising star, what about All Australian? Very Happy

Has a 1st year player ever achieved that?

Yes.

Nigel Smart (Adelaide) = 1991 - Mature-age recruit
Ben Hart (Adelaide) = 1992
Andrew McKay (Carlton) = 1993 - Mature-age recruit

I think it's down to Stephenson and doedee now... Unfortunately for stepho, doedee just had another great game too 11 intercepted possessions and a goal.

I guess everyone loves a goal kicker and Stephenson is 2 years younger so for that I'm guessing (hoping) stepho.

^There is a school of thought that Oliver Florent at Sydney is a strong candidate. I'd prefer to see a genuine first year player get ordained.

Chris Judd:

"On his run up, Jaidyn holds the ball across his body, before changing it to the conventional, vertical position just before he kicks the ball. It's a little thing, but it speaks to a player who isn't bound by convention and as a player whose nearest challenger in the Rising Star Award is daylight.

There is a fair amount of evidence mounting to suggest the young Magpie is going to fit into the category of those whose difference enables them to become an outlier in the most positive way. ...

...

What also took a lot of courage was Collingwood's decision to use the sixth overall draft pick on kid who had a level of medical uncertainty attached.

It is courage that has ended up rewarding both Collingwood and the young man himself."

i have a theory on this. i think channel 7 has realized that Collingwood cant stay down for too long otherwise the sport wont do as well.

I think the entire heart thing was made up so that he would slip to the pies.

There is a lot of evidence to suggest that the pies are being looked after this season. Look at the umpiring.....

I was told by a player today that Jayden's form on the field is translating quite well to the night clubs of Melbourne too, with his new found fame attracting attention from the fairer sex.

Well, it was not night clubs specifically that was mentioned to be honest. Just that he was proving more popular than he might otherwise be (for a man of his skeletal appearance and questionable haircut - my description, not the player's).

Oh, okay... Yes, I'm not sure how the "fairer sex" can literally be fairer unless they are really swooning. But his current haircut is far better than the junior versions.
