My question is
If we pay say $1m a year for 5 years for Lynch how do we look Grundy and de Goey in the eye and say you’re not worth that much? |
Lynch is a couple of years older than them. Make no mistake, in 2 yrs time, Grundy and De Goey will be on similar deals. By then, players like Pendles and Sidey, will be veterans and only half their salaries counted towards our salary cap. |

^I believe the rankings are stagnant while you're not playing. Only (last 40) games played count.
Still, it hasn't been much fun as the key forward at GCS the past few seasons I bet. _________________ One team, one dream - the Pies and this year's premiership |

They only have one gun tall forward and when he's missed this year they've completely fallen apart. That's one risk of a forward line dominated by one or two players.
The current state of the game is more than a cycle. Only thing that will shift it is significant rule changes. "Adjustments" won't do it. And it's not as if we don't have a tall forward, we have one of the better targets in the comp. Tweak the rules to allow less teaming up on him and he'll do even better.
Not totally against signing Lynch but there are potential negatives and I think we could do better. |
I haven't checked the stats but pretty sure the bolded is incorrect.
Darling was in career best form this year when Kennedy was missing wasn't he and West Coast racked up the wins?
It wasn't until both Darling and Kennedy were missing that the eagles struggled is my recollection. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

This is the biggest load of bullshit I think I've ever read from a columnist from the Herald-Sun. The originator Sam Edmund, is a Collingwood hater. I'm assuming he either barracks for Brisbane or Richmond. To somehow draw a conclusion that Tom Lynch will change his mind about where he wants to go because Buckley revealed that he spoke to him is about as ridiculous as you can get. He even admits that it was Lynch who initiated the contact with Buckley when Lynch was in Melbourne. So now this columnist wants to paint a picture that it was Buckley who got Lynch into trouble with his team when the news came out. How about a reality check here. It was Lynch who got himself into trouble when Lynch initiated contact with Buckley. I suppose it is our fault that players see Collingwood is a destination club when they decide to switch clubs. I suppose that it is Buckley's fault that a first year player in Weller, who broke his own contract with Freemantle to switch to Gold Coast Suns, chastised his captain at a team meeting for wanting to leave after 8 years when Lynch's contract expires. |

The 50% cap inclusion went out with the new CBA. _________________ "The Club's not Jock, Ted and Gerry" (& Eddie)

Agreed, it amazes me how many people on this site believe the media and even turn on the player or the club. |
