They only have one gun tall forward and when he's missed this year they've completely fallen apart. That's one risk of a forward line dominated by one or two players.
The current state of the game is more than a cycle. Only thing that will shift it is significant rule changes. "Adjustments" won't do it. And it's not as if we don't have a tall forward, we have one of the better targets in the comp. Tweak the rules to allow less teaming up on him and he'll do even better.
Not totally against signing Lynch but there are potential negatives and I think we could do better. _________________ Well done boys! |

I still don't want to throw the farm at him, but with Moore down back Lynch is an upgrade on Mihocek (no disrespect to him) which means it makes a challenge for the opposition defence, do they focus on Cox or Lynch? Cox is getting mauled because Mihocek isn't viewed as dangerous so his man plays off him.
2 key forwards who both demand attention actually helps our system IMO. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

^^That's the positive side. I still think we can make a greater improvement elsewhere but not saying signing him is a bad move. _________________ Well done boys! |

At the very least, the media coverage of the Ned Guy meeting on Monday must've shattered Richmond supporters' hopes. He may still end up there of course... _________________ I find your lack of faith disturbing |

Fair comment.
Is Jeremy HOWE a big fish? I say yes.
Was Daren JOLLY a big fish - absolutely.
Daniel WELLS - probably yes.
Ada mTreloar - certainly was.
No complaints from me. _________________ kymbo |

We need another forward if we can't rely on Reid. Against Richmond we struggled when Grundy was off and Cox in the ruck as well as when Cox moved up the field to be the link on the wing. He had no one to kick to.
Grundy doesn't do spells in the forward arc. If Reid plays then we are ok as he moves up the ground and is the tall link man on the wing and can then kick to Cox. But with just Cox we always struggle to find another consistent tall in the forward arc...
Cox is great on the wing as a get out of jail kick but we need someone else for him to kick to and bring the ball to ground... 2 metre Peter would do me and probably be a lot cheaper..... but he is a bit injury prone as well...
I think Moore has shone he is a natural CHB. With a proper full back to free him up. He will be a star as a third up, intercept and rebounding defender.... _________________ When it's all said and done, and the Premierships won. It's Collingwood forerver more. |

Weren’t they working on Treloar for ages? _________________ Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy. |

If you stop and think about it the one clear advantage the teams surrounding us have in the build up for finals is in the key forward position.
Richmond - Riewoldt - 585 career goals@2.40 per game
West Coast Eagles - Kennedy - 553 career goals@2.54 per game
GWS Giants - Cameron - 320 career goals@2.56 per game
Melbourne - Hogan - 151 career goals@2.16 per game
Hawthorn - Roughead - 557 career goals@2.05 per game
Collingwood - Cox - 45 career goals@1.22 per game
Port Adelaide - Dixon - 198 career goals@1.58 per game
Sydney Swans - Franklin - 910 career goals@3.17 per game
Geelong - Hawkins - 487 career goals@2.14 per game
North Melbourne - Brown - 208 career goals@2.17 per game
While we can all admire what Cox has been able to achieve to date as an American playing a foreign game the stark reality is he'll be 28 at the start of next season and his ability to go another level remains an unknown.
While he has seemingly improved his overall game this season this hasn't been reflected in his goal output per match.
Last season he kicked 10.5 from 9 games. This year it's 18.10 from 18 games.
Given his hit out average has halved from last year he has clearly spent more time forward also.
The areas he has shown real improvement in are contested marking, 1% and inside 50's.
So, would Lynch be a very useful addition to our forward line?
Yes.
Would his presence benefit Cox also.
Most likely.
Would the combination of the two give opposition defenders nightmares?
Absolutely. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

Re: opposition forward goal averages that's all good but Plugger still doesn't have a flag to his name
We're ranked third for offense this season, behind Melbourne (duds anyway) and Richmond. I think our offensive output is okay considering the challenges we've had. We have a few guys that can kick bags so it's about structure more so than scoreboard
But I agree we definitely need another tall forward to support/backup Cox because it's a huge difference when he's out or in the ruck. Whether we need a Lynch, at the price we would have to pay, I'm not convinced _________________ https://forever.collingwoodfc.com.au/sav-sinks-the-dockers/ |

I’ve stayed out of this thread but have enjoyed reading it.
My question is
If we pay say $1m a year for 5 years for Lynch how do we look Grundy and de Goey in the eye and say you’re not worth that much? _________________ Four legged animals good, two legged animals better |
