Post subject: Stop, pause and rejoice in Brodie Grundy for a moment | |
|
Seeing Brodie break the lines, evade his opponent and hit our forward lace out via his pin-point left foot pass yesterday should not be glossed over. He is our best, most consistent, important and once in a generation player we have on our list. Suggest we always:
* Keep him contracted 18 months out
* Put him on a $1,000,000 a year by 2020
* Keep the Crows whom have Jacobs nearing the end away!
* Make him feel wanted and valued forever!
* Never take him for granted
And to think he is only 24! _________________ I love the Pies, hate Carlscum |

Who else has opened The Age website today, saw the face of Grundy staring at them and gone into a blind panic prior to scrolling down?
Thank God is all I can say.
No doubt we've had some truly great players since Buckley like Pendlebury or Swan while others like A. Rocca or Cloke played important key position roles during our September appearances within this time period but heading into this season I've come to the conclusion that none have been as singularly important to our Premiership hopes year on year like Buckley was until now with Grundy.
A big call perhaps given he'll have some highly talented players supporting him in 2019 but he is the one piece of the puzzle that can't be replaced this season IMO.
P.S- de Goey might well be number 2 on the list of most important now. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

I've rejoiced in the development of Brodie Grundy since he joined us !!
He's one out of the box as far as ruckmen goes, that's for sure. He's "different, unusual" in that he's basically a huge ruck rover, made all the more potent by his lion heart. |

Agree completely, inxs88. We need to do everything possible to make him a one club player. He seems to be pretty happy and settled with us and not feeling the pull of home as yet. |

We had a ruck man back in VFL days who was darn like Grundy so I just had a look on You Tube at the great Len Thompson
He could mark —his tap to the Richardson boys phenomenal
And could kick a 60 yard goal on the mud heaps of the time
To see two outstanding ruck men in the Black and White —how lucky can a person be
Brody now the icing on the cake. Take a Brownlow Medal home _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

Great player was old Len. Grundy being only 24 is staggering though. _________________ I love the Pies, hate Carlscum |

Big task comparing player around half a century apart
I saw Len,s first ever game and it was 1965 Preliminary Final
We got gathumped and Len had to take on a crafty ,wily Don McKenzie
It was this time that the ruck rover was the go and Dons had a hard nut in
Hugh Mitchell
Len went on to get Best at Pies 5 times and a Brownlow
Grundy is good enough to equal that _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

They were very different players though. Thommo was a better tap ruckman and a better mark than Grundy, but Grundy has far more grunt and aggression. Grundy is also far better at 2nd and 3rd efforts and when the ball hits the ground. I'd say that Thommo was a better pure ruckman, but Grundy is a better all round player. |

I would compare Grundy closer to Peter Moore in his prime with us. More a large ruck rover. _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |
