At pick 58 in the 2015 AFL National Draft Tom Phillips DOESN’T possess:

* a great left foot
* has virtually no right side
* isn’t overly quick
* can’t lay a tackle
* held out for a better contract before re-signing
* is a tad annoying (cue: sleeping celebration after goal last week)

However the lad CAN PLAY! Like the Duracell bunny rabbit and Forrest Gump he just keeps going, going and going!

He might not have a *great* left foot, but he's at least got a very good one. I've gone from cringing when he got the ball last year to hoping he gets the ball.

I'm prepared to admit I was wrong about this guy. I thought he was going to be a Shane O'Bree-ish solid hand who did his job and not much more, but he's becoming a star.

He's a running machine isn't he. Incredible amazing endurance! So happy for him that he won the medal tonight, even though Treloar had the flashier game.

Great to see that he's starting to get recognition, both from fans and the media.

He's been at the forefront of transforming us into a strong running team. As his career has gone on he keeps adding more to his game: improving his kicking to the point that he's now dependable, kicking goals and taking some strong marks.

That play where he kicked the ball from the last line and then ran the entire field, involving himself in three plays along the way says it all about what he does for this team and our transition play.

What really helps your list management, is when your recruiting team pluck a ripper late in the draft. Derek Hine and team, take a bow.
And averaging close to a goal a game this year too.

Been a fan of him for a while now. Just needed to clean up his kicking, but always regarded him as a fantastic runner and he never stops trying in the contest.

Great to see he's receiving the recognition he deserves.

Just goes to show how much fitness plays a role in today’s game. He NEVER stops running. He’s EVERYWHERE. I’ve been a big critic due to his decision making, panic kicks and turnovers. But he’s started to recognise his strengths, acknowledge his weaknesses, and play to his strengths. Once his confidence continues to grow, his football IQ should continue to rise:

Good luck to him. Due to his running capacity you know he’ll still be going in the final quarter as hard as the first.

Well done, sir. Kudos.

Thought he was pretty unremarkable the first few times I saw him play. But geez he's coming on well at the moment.

Nice one Flip

he has been in our best players for the past 5 weeks now. I think he has gone beyond deserving a spot on the team. He is becoming one of our gun players!!!!

He and Crisp are the two guys who we never rate too highly and yet always seem to be everywhere and in everything....

In the last couple of weeks, he’s managed to keep his typical 6 gut-wrenching, momentum-killing turnovers for opposition goals out of his game. If he continues to do that, he’ll keep his spot.
