If he is rested, I'm ok with that. Hope it's not another bloody injury. But the team sheet says "Injured" rather than "rested" :/

It’s not very often that a club is prepared to say “ rested “ or “ managed “ simply because they know it just gives the opposition ammunition into believing that they aren’t taking them seriously.
You would think they both aren’t too bad cause they both trained through the week. It is what it is.
Personally I wouldn’t think anyone is being managed / rested for this weekend. It’s hardly a game we can afford to lose.

They are all needed but Jeremy is the biggest loss of the three for mine
But the one thing we have in the back six is “Mr. Hundred Percent “ who not as spectacular a mark but just as sure and solid

Thank god for Shaz

I thought Howe looked as if he hurt himself against Saints—-there was a momentary scare

But constant juggling side because of our best 22 players frustration plus

That's right, looked like he hyper extended the knee. He's a big loss, has been sensational this year.

According to 7 news, he's been carrying the knee since he hurt it against the Saints

How long can we continue to put effort into Reid? The bloke is as soft as margarine and to be honest, didn't do much last week...

The clutch of games after GWS thought Reid did well and such was his cohesion with Mason and our crummers and Grundy free to excell in ruck
we looked awresome—but old Reidy has reoccurring injuries that interrupt
his good form

The warrior may be nearer to the end than he likes

Very happy with Mihocek in now with Howe out. At least if, with freo now thinking they have more of a chance, with our 3 outs we have a proven, albeit Vfl level, bonafide experienced defender. As he played in the Coburg game, started forward but with Murphy going out for a quarter or so went back took a few good marks and went forward occasionally and bagged a major. Good ins.

Ah there’s that name Murphy who you mentioned in that Coburg game

He is back after injury and real good prospect—not sure if Lynch played that game (think he did) who is also good prospect

Just a little worried with Jeremy Howe out. As well as his obvious attributes as a player, he's such a leader in the backline.

I was thinking similar but the Dockers forward line has been pretty dysfunctional all year, particularly away from home.
We’re undermanned but so are they but I’m expecting we will still have enough up front to kick a winning score.
Mihocek is also versatile, so at least we have a genuine defender to go back and block holes if they get a run on ( I’m assuming he will start forward based on Buckley’s comments )

Yes blokes, if there is a round to test the mettle of the backline minus Howe, then this is surely it, against an equally injury plagued opposition.

Blair, Crocker, Murray and Oxley seem the obvious emergencies, unless Crocker comes in for Daicos, which seems unlikely. Nice to see Oxley back on the cusp of selection (I didn’t realise he’d been promoted). And well done to Mihocek – can’t wait to see how he goes.

Good luck to him for getting a game, but it's never a good thing to have someone like Mihocek in the team. At least at 192cm he's not overly tall. It would have been much better to go with a smaller forward line, but with our injuries we didn't really have that option. Hopefully this is only for one week, tougher to get away with this type of selection against Melbourne.

Maybe we are contemplating bringing in Murray rather than Maynard. Maybe Murray can play as a small forward, and Mihocek go back, or maybe vice verca. Both are capable of playing at either end.
Maynard seems the obvious inclusion (after Wells for Varcoe, Mihocek for Reid and presumably Maynard for Howe), but maybe there will be a surprise.

Maynard is named on the ground. He’s 100% playing.

Only 1 spot available on the bench. Would have to be Wells.

A finals-bound team will overcome injuries and players being 'rested'.
If we are such a team, we will prevail.
Two very good midfields going head-to-head; make no mistake, this will be a tough game.

Perhaps Grundy will be the difference? I am more bullish about Mihocek than others- he is a very competent footballer who goes very hard at the ball. Very hard. And he has a great habit of one-grab marks.

Looking forward to Hoskin-Elliott and De Goey lighting it up on the G where they are ideally suited.
