After listening to Bucks' post-match press conference, I get the impression that Elliott and Moore won't be returning for the Carlton game, assuming they're fit to begin with. He's indicated they'll need to play some VFL footy before they can return to the senior side.

The prospect of Elliott returning to a forward line that's starting to fire on a regular basis is a salivating prospect.

I think Mihocek is worth persisting with, and I think he's gone ahead of Reid in the pecking order.

only because your expectations are so low. If Blair put in the performance that Mihocek put in last week, people would be calling for his head on a platter. Let's face it, he did a few things nicely, is a reliable kick for goal, but he really had no influence on the outcome of the game. i wonder why we wouldnt give McLarty a shot at doing exactly the same thing.

Hit the post in the first.
Strong contested mini-speccy in the second.
Long low accurate pass on the run to hit Mason Cox on the chest in the goal square in the third quarter.
Goal after the 3/4 time siren to bury Melbourne.
I’d say he’s doing more than a few nice things for a second game player.

i thought a few was three? You listed three nice things and one stuff up (poster). I'm going to stick with my summary, maybe with an addition. How about this:

"Let's face it, he did a few things nicely (and he had a poster), is a reliable kick for goal (except for the shot that hit the post), but he really had no influence on the outcome of the game." Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

By the way, the fact that you threw in "for a second gamer". kind of proves my point. You thought he was really good "for a second gamer" meaning you would judge others (like Blair) differently. If you want to win a flag (and pick a best 22), you have to judge each player on their merits. Mihocek is a solid player who has done really well, for a second gamer, but i'm not sure i'm ready to confirm him as the answer to our all our needs at that position.

I am with Jezza on Mihocek. Additionally, he does quite a bit of the ball and l is very capable of taking bigger bodies (similar to Dawes). I also like the way he can take a contested grab on the wing and deliver penetrating kicks to advantage to our small forwards.
Part of our revival is based on team roles and continuity, and while reid (and for that matter elliott and moore) can play the team role well they are unable to deliver the latter!!

^ mmm - flashes of brilliance and exciting play can win games but week in week out contributors are the foundation. I suppose we can only afford so many in and out players before its a problem.
Makes you appreciate Howe, Sidey and Pedders - rarely out and always bringing great performances.
I'm a bit worried about those three - Moore Elliot Reid - not their capacity but their reliability to take the field

well - if your going to be silly - how do you expect to win if your entire team of injured stars are on the sidelines?

We should smash these pricks by well over ten goals, and I hope to God we do. !! But, knowing us, we will loaf along, let the Bluebellies be competitive for a fair while, then we will limp to a lack lustre 33 point win. I just don't as yet, trust us to smash teams we should, cant be trusted yet, we OUGHTA smash these creeps, but I don't think we will. !

They really are a rabble, aren’t they ? I’m picturing them, slack-jawed, dry-mouthed, bug-eyed, looking at our juggernaut bearing down on them next week.....

^

Don't even think it. I and I assume you have way too many scars from this degenerative excuse for a football club to take things too lightly.

They will throw everything at us. They still have weapons. We have to have the same intent as the Melbourne game and wrest the scoring initiative off them early. Allow them to be close at 3/4 time and we are asking for trouble.
