I was hoping for a big % booster but the way the game was played, our attitude towards it and Carlton's harassment, tackling and general annoying performance level prevented that from happening.

It was just one of those "go through the motions and get the win" type of game on a cold afternoon in Melbourne. We never really looked like losing but never really looked like breaking away. Just a 'meh' performance. Tick the box and move along.

We claw another win closer to drawing level on the all time Collingwood vs Carlton win/loss record (which is something I've been watching for 20 years). The best moment of the game was hearing that Treloar only suffered a doubled-hammy cramp, unlike the devastating season ending hamstring tear threatening to derail our season that the melodramatic unprofessional Fox Footy commentary team was proclaiming.

That was an unconvincing win and it seemed like we were going through the motions compared to previous weeks. We were flat and reduced to their pathetic and substandard level of football, but we were able to grind out the win. It's nice to see that when we're challenged that we can still stand up and answer. We're in the top four now. I'm hoping the bye had something to do with the lull we saw the players in. The scum are a deplorable excuse for a football team. They're not even vfl standard.

daisy is a dog and should get 4-6 weeks for that cheap shot on greenwood. loved all the boos he got cos he deserves them, and more. he relies on cheap ball off half back and that's about his only contribution. we were the big winners there when he went.

positives: treloar only has cramp and we're still seeing how dangerous a foward line of whe, stephenson and jdg can be with cameos from our midfield and cox.

the scumps did their bit to keep the scum in the game.

september needs to be firmly on our radar now. there's no going back. anything less than finals is failure.

up yours scum!

The Blues game plan wasn't about winning it was about not getting pumped. Take the four points.

I now doubt if little shithead Dollar Daisy will be welcome at the ten year 2010 Flag milestone party in two yrs, he seems to have burnt every bridge he ever had with the Pies, just a little asshole now, so jealous of us now, and it shows badly, hes a brat. Surprised

no. We played just above Carlton's level. IF we played a real team, we would have played with much more intensity. Sometimes you can't help bu get dragged down to the level of your opponent.

Let's look at the facts. We've beaten the bottom 2 teams but a total of about 26 points.

Painful to watch, so many players need to work on the disposal on their opposite side; way too many gutter balls, particularly into the forward line.
I thought in general Carlton's disposal standard was superior to ours, hitting way more targets by hand and foot, which shat me no end.
Carlton and Bolton aren't as stupid as they look; they learned from that earlier encounter this year, and know how to choke our scoring.

We carried passengers for the first time in weeks, yet every one of their shitkickers played out of their skins. Plus they were two down on rotation for most of the game through injury, and still we couldn't get off the leash.
We can consider ourselves luck Casboult broke his finger pre game; had he played, we were GONE. We have no match up for him, apart from perhaps Schade, but Buckley sorted that little problem out.
So yes, we need to secure a KPD or we are going to get monstered by a gorilla forward sooner than later; nothing we can do about that in 2018.

Considering the opposition, arguably our worst performance of the year, next to the Whorethorn game.

3-4 changes to next week's side isn't unrealistic.
And I hate to say it, but perhaps Blair should be recalled for the GCS game, as a couple of blokes volunteered themselves today, for a stint in the VFL.

Frankly I think it was pissweak, But we should be used to this by now! Our record against the very worst sides is fu*ing abysmal. That stinks of ordinarycoaching & a few passengers. Clearly should be a couple of omissions next week. Wills for Treloar unfortunately the first. I'm thrilled to hear it was only cramp, but we tend to lie a LOT about injuries & even bad cramp tends to lead to a week off. How many weeks were Moore & Smith supposed to be out? I remember Walsh being concerned that Elliot might not quite make RD.1.
Why are we the only top 8 side that can't smash anyone? I think our biggest margins were against Adelaide, Freo & Melbourne!
I'm much more concerned about beating Essendrugs than Wet Toast.
We're far too good for this shite!

24 scoring shots to 14 was pretty reflective of our dominance today. We just didn’t maximise opportunities. Probably felt worse because of expectation of a huge win.

The bye is a bloody curse mate, look at Nth Melb last night, us and them, flat as tacks. BTW do you guys think like me, that we really kinda need both Moore and Reid back, soon as we can, I think we do miss em, oh and Varcoe too, run and carry. Idea

This was exactly what I was thinking while watching the game.

Another thought was that if we play sides whose method of moving the ball forward is irritating, dinky little 30m passes, Bucks needs to tell our boys to stick to their man (as opposed to zone defence - or to play a hybrid version of it) and then burst once we turn it over.

No, I like our defensive set-up. I enjoy watching midfielders take contested marks against our CHB.

A valid point Piesnchess and I really wouldn't know to be honest, but I think our forward line is just fine as is. Stephenson may have to have a break at some point, in which case I'd be hoping Jamie could come back. I'd always welcome Varcoe back though, for his tackling along with his run and carry.
Horses for courses I guess.

We had that post-bye look, with a pretty lousy connection into the forward line, but the four points is enough for me. AT being ok is the best news all day.

Yep, our boys sure did look as thought they had that post-bye rusty look, but we got the win against spirited opposition. They say that's the sign of a good team - to win despite not playing their best - the sign of a team in the four!!!! Very Happy Who would've thought!!!

Very, very relieved that Adam reckons he just had cramp, but it sure was a strange time for cramps to come on. Hope he's got the right diagnosis.

Also hope that Daisy gets rubbed out for his hit against Levi. He was in a nasty, spiteful mood today and hope he cops it.

Well, you would be in a filthy mood today if you were Dale Thomas. He is a non-entity in a bottom-dwelling team playing a top-four team in which he might have been a venerated legend, rather than a plankton filter.

Coming face to face with the appalling consequences of terrible life decisions makes people cranky.

He was talking a lot but he wasn’t angry. I lipread. He was telling our guys “when you are finished as a player get a trade to us. I was done 5 years ago, you guys wanted to be rid of me so I came here on a massive pay rise & haven’t had a kick since but the dumb bastards have given me an extension. Even Mick was in on the deal. I should have a real job by now but I’m still getting paid to run around each weekend pretending that I am a footballer.”
