Surely enough is enough with Langdon. A spell in the VFL to give him a rev up. Nothing against him personally, but sweet Jesus he has either no awareness or hasn’t given up his pre game bong ritual. Only until the final 10 mins did he actually show a modicum of urgency. His slow as treacle decision making is going to be costly come finals time if he doesn’t get a kick up the bum.

De Goey's the closest we have to Treloar, but some question on his tank. Didn't do enough today, has to be getting more than 14 disposals.

Maynard added run to our midfield in the first half. Though barely sighted in the second half.

We had a bad period where we let them kick 4-5 goals. After that we shut it down well and staunched the bleeding with Mayne and Mihocek going back.

As Pendles said, we ran out of legs and the forward run just wasn't there later in the game. 8 day break till the Essendon game, it will be a big challenge. Don't think we can get it done with the current lineup, need some changes - and hopefully Dunn gets up.

Amid the rubbish, that was yet another stellar performance from Thor Grundy. He was massive, clearly the difference between the two teams.

You kidding? Suns won the clearances and he turned it over most of the time

You watch a different game to me. They won the clearances because our midfield couldn't get the ball Grundy was feeding them. Grundy was breathtakingly good.

Varcoe straight in for Lagdon

This is never going to happen. Varcoe will come in, though, for one of about 15 others.

We got the job done and right now that is all that really matters. 10 min into the 3rd we were 10 goals up, as far as I am concerned the game was over there and then, the rest was just conservation. We have a MASSIVE month coming up. Dons, Eagles, Kangas & Tigers. All can be wins and all could be defeats. The Suns just aren't worth the big effort. We understand which are the big games and our effort is always there when they roll around. Big picture time guys.

Really hope you're right MM. Great post BTW - fully agreed with all the points you made. Especially good point you make about Tom Phillips. He's really been missing in the last few games and maybe the concussion has had some effect on him - psychologically if nothing else. I could fully understand if subconciously he doesn't want to put himself in the same sort of position again. He seems to have lost that manic desperation.

It's interesting how we can see the game differently. I don't think Langdon is that bad RH. Sure, he's not the fastest player out of half-back, but he contests valiantly and as Dave says, who else could you put there, except maybe Mihocek.

I've changed my mind about Tom Lynch. Steven May is the one to go for. He has to be at least as good as Brian Lake was when Lake went to Hawthorn. Can we get Steven May for 2019?

Press has us chasing him end of this season despite a season to run on his contract. Ned Guy his former manager.

An excellent two and a half quarters, but the last third of the game was flat, although to stem the momentum by throwing Mihocek and Mayne back in defence after the Suns kicked four in a row was a good move by the coaching staff. It cannot be a coincidence that as soon as Dunn went down, we lost a bit of our structure in defence.

Thomas was excellent tonight and a very handy forward option. I love the fact that if one or two forwards don't kick any goals, others step up. Tonight we saw Hoskin-Elliott go goalless for the first time this season, but Stephenson and Thomas stepped up and filled the void left by him.

Mayne has become an important player for us. The way he's come back after a horror 2017 season is nothing short of remarkable. He deserves a lot of credit for his resilience and perseverance to work through that struggle.

I agree with others that some changes will be required soon especially as we start confronting stronger sides. To be 10-4 and 2nd is a remarkable achievement by the club relative to the expectations of most people at the start of the year, but the real challenge starts now as to whether we're a proper contender or not.

Really hope Dunn's injury isn't too serious.

Phillips did look a little flat today, but he still finished with 26 disposals after only having 4 disposals in the first half.

Have to give him credit for playing out the game strongly in humid conditions where many players were seemingly affected by fatigue.

Fling aimlessly into packs that that we already outnumber to leave your man alone on the deck to mop up the crumbs is deplorable. 9 times out of 10 he fails to impact the contest an simply gets in the way before being a non player once he crashes to the ground. There’s ‘contesting’ and there’s SMART contesting.

Geez, I am so over these injuries to crucial players!!!! It's incredible that we're even in the top eight with all the injuries we've had to some key players.

A team comprising of Crocker, Sier, Mihocek, Daicos, Cox, Langdon, Phillips, Stephenson, Scharenberg can’t be second for long. Surely. As good as some of these youngsters are, we need to start getting players back and quick smart. The next month will prove whether our soft draw is the reason why we’re currently second (excluding the Melb Win). Unconvincing wins vs stK, WB, Carl and GC are hardly things to get excited about, but the Melb game is. No Treloar will be telling I fear.
