Bored on a Saturday morning - however with all the fanfair for Kade Simpson (and fair enuf) I had a look at our leading games tallies. .

Pendles currently sits equal 5th on the all time games record for Collingwood with SSB on 264 games. He will surely pass the great Len Thompson in a few weeks (268).

All that are in front of him then are Wayne Richardson (277), Gordon Coventry (306) and Tony Shaw (313).

Given his current form and barring injuries (touch wood) he is in sight of our games record. Amazing record of consistently high quality footy. Well played Captain.

Keep in mind if you include games at other clubs Bucks has 280 (20 at the Bears)

Thommo has 301 ( 20 at Sth Melb and 13 at Fitzroy)

That’s 264 games ranging from excellent to perfect

Would be one of the greatest 300 games block of any player ever.

Underestimated in the AFL world the past few seasons, and amazingly on this site sometimes too. First gets crossed he can prove his worth once again on the big stage (finals). He’s deserved it.

So undaunted by confinement—I have never seen a player do what he can do
in traffic
He could feed off a goal assist in a phone box

The thing about Pendlebury is that when he joins that company, he will be well in the conversation to be first among equals.

I lol'd when I saw the Simpson piece on the AFL site. You'd think he'd be embarrassed being photographed alongside Nicholls, Doull, Silvagni and the little bald guy (whoever he was). He's not a bad player - but those would have to be just about the most good-ordinary games ever put on by a senior AFL player.

On the other hand, it is pretty funny that Simpson got to 300 but Wayne Johnston didn't - that probably says more about the competition for places on their current list than it does about his "career".

Pendles, on the other hand, is an actual, genuine, all-time-great.

And had Swan not been stranded on 258 games in early 2016, he might very well have crept over 300 by now too....

If Swan played all possible games from then to now he would have passed Shaw last week against the blues. Given Swan usually missed 2-3 per year though it's more likely he'd be around 5 or 6 games behind Shaw's record.

Tony Shaw was a great favourite of mine - but Swan and Pendlebury both played many more great games for the ‘Pies than Tony did.
