Bring in Murray and play him in Trelore's place, we don't have anyone else!

As at 3pm the club was reporting he'd been for scans, they were seeking more info and he was subject to a fitness test for this weekend.

This information comes from where? Sauce please.

OK, coming from Jon Ralph.

Quote:
Treloar has told friends that he has torn his left hamstring off the bone and also done damage to his right hamstring.

The Herald Sun understands that Treloar will see more specialists on Tuesday about the rare injury, but the Pies confirmed a tendon tear is a possibility.

That would require surgery that could keep the 25-year-old out for up to 10 weeks — effectively ending his season.

If Treloar has 'friends' who repeat private conversations to media then he needs new friends. I hope this is typical media bullshit.

If it was just cramp there is no reason that he will not be playing on Saturday, other than an overabundance of caution. Six sleeps is ample recovery time from extended cramps. It was a cool day, he had plenty of fluid intake, and the game does not go for very long. Judging from his reaction it was far from the top end of the range of bad cramps that you commonly see or experience in endurance events. I am hopeful that it was just something he was not familiar with, and being a young and inexperienced athlete, he was caught by surprise more than by anything else.

I call BS on this as well, for a couple of reasons.

The hamstring is a muscle,it is not connected to a bone. Also, and I can say this from personal experience, if you tear the tendon that connects the hamstring to the bone, you certainly know about it. It feels like you have been shot. You do not say after the game that you only had cramp. There is a massive difference between the two. Cramps generally abate as long as you hold the muscle in a certain position, hamstring tendon tears do not.

Agreed. You sure as hell don't feel better next day if you hurt a hammy.

I’d be surprised if Ralph reports it without reasonable corroboration. All rather mysterious because he seemed far more mobile afterward than you would have expected if it were true.

If true, it makes our flag prospects far less likely. He is one of our A-graders.

I call BS too - you wouldn't go jogging up and down the boundary with an injury like that.

He gently jogged some run-throughs
He got massaged by the trainers
He wasn't iced until after the game

None of that says tendon damage. Tendon makes the leg work, it's the link between the bone and the muscle. It gets injured, brain tries to get muscle to contract to move bone but link is broken or in shock and not functioning properly. Net result hard to walk, certainly no jog.

""(I feel) a bit sore obviously, it feels OK (today). I can't really compare it to anything else because I've never (done a hamstring). I'll find out in the next 24 hours I guess.""

What a load of rubbish. You dont jog with both hamstrings torn off the bone.

Having said that, I'd rest him this week. 6 day turnaround with travel is a recipe for disaster. It's a good opportunity to give Sier a taste of the big league.
