- As fans would be aware, this match will serve as an off-Broadway prelude to the senior side's encounter with Essendon at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Those wanting to attend both games will have approximately an hour from when the final siren rings out at Victoria Park to when the opening siren sounds at the MCG.

- This match was originally fixtured to take place at Olympic Park Oval for a 5:30pm Sunday twilight start, but was discreetly moved early in the new year to a Sunday morning 11:30am start at Victoria Park. Fortunate, considering the original scheduling had the game starting while the seniors would have still been playing.
