Hard to say we’re pretenders but...

Disappointed to lose, but it's not the end of the world.

We've failed our first real test, but we'll regroup and go again next week against North.

I still remain upbeat at this stage about our season overall.

Disgusting effort from our reserves team after quarter time.

Came up very short though. This was the easiest one. Reckon we’ll drop out of the 8.

15 goals to 6 after we jumped them early. Very nasty.

I’d say QB was our first real test. As was last week to en extent.

It something’s gotta give. Close to full strength WC vs our B side. We did OK considering.

Still well off it.

Gutted, but not surprised, Cox out really hurt us, and I think mass injuries finally caught up with us today, bigtime. Perhaps this is the loss we had to have. Eagles did win 10 in a row, got their big 3 back today, and did beat the tigers by 5 goals, they are a pretty decent team. Just hope we can hit back very very hard next week, come out steaming.!

ALSO, why the hell did Bucks have to shave off his lucky charm Beard ?????? Grow it back, pronto !!

Three goal kickers, yes a whole three goal kickers. That says it all.As others have said,we've got too many reserve players in this team, and our key position stocks are at an all time low.

Bit of a reality check. I think we need to accept that top 4 may be an overly ambitious goal this year.

After the first 15 mins we looked pretty tired and lethargic imo. They thrashed us in the tackle count. I was disappointed in quite a few players, but mostly Grundy, who failed to take control of the game after Nic Nat went off injured. It's clear to me that Crocker and Daicos are not good enough atm, and Varcoe is just about shot.

Structurally, we clearly missed Cox as well, but overall, our players simply did not work hard enough.

The goal has always been to make the top 8.

Anything beyond that is a bonus.

All very good points Piesnchess, especially the one about the beard.

Two positive aspects to the game - both Varcoe and Moore seemed to get through it okay and hopefully, no injuries. Thought Darcy did really well given he has been out for so long. As Jared Rivers said, he looks to be a natural and dashing defender.

Well, that well and truly popped the bubble. We did look slow, tired, flat, exhausted etc etc. Maybe not in Q1, but as the game wore on our run just vanished. Way too many horrible turnovers in the 2nd qtr in particular coupled with our wasteful ball use going forward and the Eagles amazing goal accuracy meant that at half time we were down 5 points and should have been up by 5 goals. From there it was all downhill.

They played really well, let's give them credit. They played the game perfectly. Keeping's off was the plan, maintain the tempo, played the game as they wanted it. They saw our run dropping off and that was when they started to drive in the screws by shifting the play left and right all over the ground. Unfortunately our slow plodders in Mayne, Crocker, Greenwood, injured WHE, a lazy Sidey just could not cover the ground. Eventually our defense just buckled and we lose by 5 goals from a slow bleed.

You see a game like that and you just hope it's a one off. If it isn't and we have hit the wall we may not even make finals. every game here on in will be a mountain to climb, even Brisbane at Etihad is looking a tough gig.

Is the sky about to fall in?

Agree fully, make the 8, win one Final this yr. Next season, make the Prelim Final. in 2020, make the GF, and win the bloody flag. That's my scenario, anyway, that's my take. Smile
