In media, i reckon crisp and maynard

I agree with Langdon as I feel on here he is Very Overrated.

Adams is about Right. Great Player but can make Terrible Error's by Foot

I think the question of the thread was 'Who is Underrated?'
Stui is nominating Langdon and Adams as Underrated.
You appear to have missed that DTM and disagree with his assertions.

I think Grundy is the player we can probably least afford to lose, but I think his value is generally appreciated around Nicks and the AFL more broadly as he and Gawn are spoken about as the best 2 rucks in the league.

I think Howe is well regarded and his marking brings attention to his capabilities and recognition.

I think Crisp is my answer - he's neatened up his kicking and he brings a nice blend of line-breaking run and solid enough defensive attributes, with intercept marks. Gets plenty of the pill, but is not as vaunted as our midfielders with similar possession levels. He was never a high draft pick either.

Crisp is the 1st player that comes to mind, does his job week in, week out, without much fanfare. Langdon would be another one.

A real smokey for this title might be Mihocek. He destroyed North on Saturday in the first quarter, and he has had two four-goal games in the last four. He got beaten by McGovern, undoubtedly, though as Pendlebury said, that was more a function of the boys upfield bombing it long without Cox, than it was Mihocek’s fault.

A few weeks back we were al fretting about our lack of a tall forward. The last few weeks he has slotted in brilliantly - strong mark, good one on one, threatening in a pack, superb kick, absorbs pressure comfortably, and gives us a powerful second string when the defenders are swarming Cox. On what I have seen to date, I suspect he may be a big part of the finals success puzzle, and I cannot believe how much impact he has had in such a short time.

Given his role, i'll take it (and think you are all morons to think that a guy playing the Adams role isnt going to be adjudged to have committed clangers.

Anyway, the leaderboard for clangers is a who's who of stars and probably the first or second picked at each club. Let's look at the leaderboard from 2017:

1 Dustin Martin Richmond 25 124
2 Patrick Dangerfield Geelong 24 106
2 Luke Parker Sydney 24 106
4 Tom Mitchell Hawthorn 22 99
5 Trent Cotchin Richmond 25 97
6 Taylor Adams Collingwood 22 96
7 Sam Powell-Pepper Port Adelaide 22 94
8 Dayne Zorko Brisbane 21 92
9 Rory Sloane Adelaide 24 91
10 Nathan Fyfe Fremantle 21 89

We can go deeper if you want. The next 10 has such useless players as Treloar, Ollie Wines, Shuey, Gaff, Franklin.

hmmmm, well....

Grundy. He’s a once in a generation player and people don’t seem to rate him. He’s the sort of big man you could build a premiership era around.

p4s - you surprise me - no Langdon? I feel Grundy gets the recognition he deserves (both internally and externally) for the tremendous player he is.

The reason that it is Crisp and Langdon is because each of them get picked EVERY week they are available and neither of them are considered stars (and in a lot of cases, fans are scratching their heads as to why this is so). Very few players meet those two rules.

Good point, and I agree with you, but sometimes Adams has some shocker clangers - like kicking directly into our f50 straight into the arms of the opposition for an uncontested possession (happened against North). But his positive clearance work does far outweigh the occasional clanger...

Not sure what point you're trying to make, is this thread not about most underrated player at Collingwood? All that list tells me, if anything, is just how much we overrate players. (even us morons know stats don't tell the full story)

Jaiden Stephenson .

How many bags of goals has the 1st year player in Stephenson kicked , add to that his defencive pressure-- plus he hasn't missed a game all year . This young fella injury aside is going to be something really special .

Miochec

His ability to play forward & back has been invaluable . I love the way he does his job without the theatrics .

WHE

I'd never noticed him at GWS -- but you can't help but notice him in the Black & White . He's a beauty .

Langdon the most underrated by fans and fan sites hands down. Is he overrated by coaches? dunno but it its an opinion that's at odds. He plays one of the most pressure sensitive roles on the field and works hard week in week out. Yeah he makes mistakes but watch what happens when we try and replace him. Not as good as Schaz and others but a thorn in the side of the opposition and under appreciated by the fans.

Don't know how anyone can mention Grundy when there was talk about a Brownlow for a ruckman not long ago - what does he have to have to be over-rated? same with Stephenson and WHE who are regularly named in the best. Mihocek was under rated, famously for years, but is now getting plenty of accolades.

Under rated = Langdon
