We just can't keep hoping for the best....hope does not equal success.
We need to be ruthless and tough. No more sentimentality at Collingwood.
Thanks Jamie for tying, but your body says No. |
Agree wholeheartedly, an opposition fan put it the same..We need to trade for durability (Shazza, freeman, wells, etc, etc). We think we can cheat human physiology, injury prone players will always be exactly that..We need a clearout even for the fans sake..

Something clearly has to change at season's end. Didn't Essendon change their fitness/rehab manager midway through last year (after a string of soft tissue injuries), and they've improved in that area ever since? Yes, some of our players may be injury prone, but most are not. And for those that are not injury prone we must stop the rot before they become the next Elliot or Wells.

Wells was damaged goods before he came to Collingwood.
Nothing to do with our fitness staff.

That's correct, and I wasn't suggesting that was a result of our fitness staff - the point being that we don't want to condition our players to be like Wells, where they have no confidence in their body and continually break down.

There's a little bit to this...
Take note of Bitchmond's managing of Houli's VFL game yesterday, knowing they'll likely be slotting him in to the seniors the following week... |
would you rather they found out he cant run out a full game in the 2s- or have another Darcy Moore scenario- where we end up a player down due to inability to carry the load in seniors?

We lose 1-2 players every game. May as well get a stellar first half out of Elliott to help ice the game inside 60 mins before he potentially falls over after half times

Thanks for some memorable highlights.
Shame your back has ended your footy career.

Slated for surgery, which is probably the right last throw of the dice, at this point. Let’s look to 2019. He did put together about ten superb games last year, so it’s not hopeless.

What was the Richmond Vfl scores?
We needed to win the game and only won it by 7 points.
Elliot needs to prove he can make it 120 minutes.

Also Richmond have a full Vfl side... Ours on the other hand, half of them are, in the seniors.

Tiger Woods is back after 10 years of back problems...... He's not Tiger anymore but he's doing a nice impersonation of a top 20 golfer.

Would surgery on his hammy mean it's not back related? Either way I have grave doubts about any meaningful return.

Not a medical practitioner but from speaking to some in that field I understand that back issues can cause an imbalance which leads to stress upon the hamstring. If the hamstring or attaching tendon is damaged and requires surgery to repair it, that is only working on the end result of the problem and not on what is causing the problem. If that's the case Jamie's career is over unless he can rectify or limit the back issue.
It's very sad if his career is over. He was one of those guys that had a bit of the x factor. Not many do. It seems like only yesterday it was draft day and Hine was saying that he was very happy to be able to have picked him up so late in the draft.

^ thanks for that, I suspected as much, if it is back related. Although it makes me wonder why they'd bother, if it were
